Expert Analysis

Tolbert is a player who can easily be the defensive difference maker throughout this tournament. Standing at 5’8″ 170-Pounds, he showcases an undersized build for a DB, but plays way bigger than his frame. Tolbert has a high IQ, allowing him to read an opposing offense. he has outstanding length, and plays sticky, keeping his man infant of him. His hands are outstanding, and he can make highlight reel plays with ease. Tolbert is a playmaker I see making some noise this weekend.

The 2027 Geneva Prospect stands at 5’8″ 170-Pounds, and displays a slimmer frame for the DB Position. I do want to see him reach 180-Pounds during his Senior Season to help fill out his frame.
On special teams, Tolbert, is an elite player, showcasing good speed and footwork, allowing him to burn pass opposing defenders. Tolbert Jr, is an elite athlete, who displays quick speed, and elite footwork, along with a high IQ. He can play anywhere, and showcases that ability across his film.

Standing at 5’8″ 170-Pounds, the Geneva DB, displays a solid frame for the position, and ranks 8th at the position, and 68th in the state in the 2027 Class. Tolbert is fresh off a visit to Cornell, and had this to say about his trip to the Big Red.
The brotherhood amongst the players was very strong, and the connections one can have playing at a place like Cornell is unrivaled… they are really investing into athletics with their 55 million dollar indoor facility… definitely a top option for me.

A huge athlete and playmaker here over at Geneva High School whose speed just pops off the film at any of the positions he plays at. Thomas Tolbert Jr. has playing experience at WR, SS, and RB this past year, where he was able to make electric plays at all the spots. At the RB position, the speed and agility to make defenders miss inside gaps was evident. Tolbert was able to run away from defenders on multiple plays coming out of the I-formation on tape. The ability to make jump cuts to find the holes was significant. Throughout the tape, I was amazed by the athleticism that Tolbert Jr. presented, especially at being able to high point the football at the WR position. The SS position may be the best spot for Tolbert Jr. as he was able to come up field and make back breaking tackles in space. The ability to pursue with passion and aggressiveness was presented at a high level.

Tolbert Jr, who started every game for Geneva, put together some solid freshman tape. Tolbert Jr is a physical tackler in space and consistently wraps up. Tolbert Jr did not face a ton of targets as a freshman, and there are not many coverage reps. He sees the game well and quickly reads and reacts to what is in front of him. Tolbert Jr evades blocks well; his quickness and twitchiness in space help him get on the outside shoulder of WRs trying to block him and make plays in space.

is an upcoming sophomore CB that had a heck of a past season for Geneva High School as he started all 9 games as a freshman. The number of times that this young man was chasing after the football if a fumble was caused and being able to recover the ball for a CB was incredible to watch. The straight acceleration and burst to come up to hit the intended ball carrier really displayed on Tolbert’s film. Travis showed an outstanding coverage ability for his age in cover-3 and in cover-1 plays, which even opened opportunities for his teammates to make plays on the football for turnovers. The ability to be used on special teams was also a huge factor in the punting unit as a gunner. The speed and aggressiveness to fight through his blocks to get after the punt returner would flash. Travis was even placed at RB for a few plays this past season as well. Travis was able to score at times because of his breakaway speed around the bend was too much of a challenge to chase down. For Geneva, this is a very talented, young football player that will be very exciting for them to utilize this next season and down the road.

Who could possibly jump 21 feet as a freshman next season. Tolbert Jr. has 3 long jumps of 19 feet or better this season and has personal best of 11.84 in the 100m, 24.52 in the 200m and anchored his schools 4×100 relay team to a 6th place finish at the Section V Class B1 Sectional Championships..
