Being in that QB room with that competition, willingness to compete, and knowledge of being patient and trusting the process that has really helped Rogers take off.   Rogers trains with personal position coaches along with hitting every camp and throwing session he can seem to fit in his docket. He's been out to multiple D1 camps and left a good impression. He's got the prototypical size that you want, he's thick and can take hits, yet is athletic enough to take off. Rogers prides himself on being a pocket passer, but it's not the only ability to his game. He's got a big big arm that's even more impressive live. He can rip the ball effortlessly 50-yards down the field. He was at the Prep Redzone Showcase in December where he left with MVP honors.   I was able to sit down with Rogers this week and get to know him a little bit better. It was great to get a better perspective on who he is and why these schools are willing to take a shot on him, even with him being a few years out.   The Interview   Question: What does football mean to you?   Rogers: "Alot. I just grew up playing it and seeing the things Cam Newton could do on the field was everything. I definitely look up to his game quite a bit."   Question: Day to yourself, what do you do?   Rogers: "I usually try to get some friends together and throw some routes on air. I have a set schedule year round with training, lifting, and practices. I love it. So any free time I just like to improve on myself wherever I can."   Question: What's something that schools or coaches should know about you and/or your game?   Rogers: "I can play under pressure. The big lights and big games, that's where I thrive. I'm working on being more versatile and showing my legs. Just because I prefer to be in the pocket doesn't mean I'm slow. I can really run so they're gonna see the difference this fall."   Question: What's one thing you've learned by sitting behind a QB having to be patient?   Rogers: "I've matured quite a bit. Having to be patient and understanding I can't always get what I want right away has been huge for me. I know my time will come and I'm preparing for that opportunity."   Question: What's 1 thing in your game you're looking to improve on this fall?   Rogers: "I'm working on my footwork, extending plays, and simply my speed. Being a versatile QB is important to me and I'm trying to round out my game there."   Question: What's it take for you to win the starting job this fall over a 3-Star Recruit?   Rogers: "Grind. A lot of grind. Knowing the ins and outs of the playbook, making the right reads, and being more consistent than him. Sure, it'd be really hard, but it's not impossible."   Question: What's your favorite food?   Rogers: "Anything Italian. I have some Italian in my background and just love their food. You can't go wrong getting some carbs with shrimp alfredo."   Question: Do you have anything you wish you could say to potential colleges or coaches who may read this and wonder, "Why [player_tooltip player_id='196717' first='Isaiah' last='Rogers']?"   Rogers: "I'm different. I don't want to sound cocky. I mean that respectfully. I've got everything. The physical tools, the ability, I love to work, and I'm only a sophomore having to be patient and mature in ways other guys my age may not have to fight through."     Leaving that interview, I felt better about Rogers than I ever did before. It's a humble, confident, willingness to work that hits you with his presence. He understands it's not easy being the starter at the next level and what it all takes. He knows he could transfer and start elsewhere, but he wants to develop the right way. He's smart, really does check all the boxes, and you can see why everyone is starting to look at the Ben Davis QB room with some big eyes. 2 Division 1 level QBs in the same room, at the same time, and having a ton of respect for one another is a very rare thing. Rogers is going to be a phenomenal QB when he gets his chance to start and it's best to be on that train before it arrives to the station, because once the word is out, it might be too late.
