Continue ReadingThis recruiting report materialized quickly as some notable names picked up offers. A strong couple of days for New York athletes, including a player who may not be in New York much longer and an athlete whose offer in early May I missed, but the tape shows that he could be one of the FASTEST players in New York. So while this may have come together quickly, there are some intriguing names and stories here.
OFFERS
Anthony DiMenna Anthony DiMenna 6’7″ | 275 lbs | OL Sachem North | 2024 State NY picked an offer from New Hampshire as UNH continues to look at the top OL in New York. DiMenna has elite length and was one of the top performing OL at the Elite V showcase a couple weeks ago.
Mekhi Edwards Mekhi Edwards 5’10” | 175 lbs | DB Christ the King | 2024 NJ had a strong 7v7 season with New York Hustle and just picked up his first FBS offer from Temple and continues to have some interest from other D1 programs as he now has three total offers.
Highlights
Darien Williams Darien Williams 5’10” | 160 lbs | ATH CBA-Syracuse | 2025 State NY is a part of a strong group at CBA-Syracuse that continues to eat offers as coaches visit through. Top 2025 receiver prospect Williams gets the nod from UMASS this time.
Terron Johnson Terron Johnson 5’11” | 165 lbs | DB Iona Prep | 2025 State NY continues to be hot in New York as the DB picked up his 4th and 5th offers from Minnesota and Stony Brook. Eerily similar recruiting path to top 2024 Samuel Madu Samuel Madu 6’2″ | 170 lbs | DB Archbishop Stepinac | 2024 State NY of Archbishop Stepinac who became a top 24′ player after some offers and strong tape. Expect Johnson to have that same trajectory to becoming one of the most sought after players in New York.
Garrison Heslop Garrison Heslop 6’1″ | 145 lbs | DB Archbishop Stepinac | 2025 State NY picked up his fourth offer from Stony Brook as the Archbishop Stepinac DB continues to get some notice. Heslop does not have a ton of tape but there is an NFL background in the family and the measurables are intriguing.
Gamaliel is a name to watch on this site and you will see why soon. The ATH out of North Rockland has legitimate dangerous speed and Sacred Heart was the first to notice. Sauveur picked up that first offer in early May. (I missed it on twitter, hence the inclusion this week) Sauveur should be a name to watch through camp season as programs will likley be enamored with his athleticism.
Syair Torrence Syair Torrence 5’11” | 195 lbs | ATH CBA-Syracue | 2024 State NY continues to pick up FBS offers and this time it is from UMass to add to his collection. That makes it 8 offers for the WR from CBA-Syracuse.
Highlights
CBA-Syracuse again comes to no surprise. The program in Syracuse continues to showcase their recruits over the northeast. UMass left offering three CBA athletes and Matthew Hawn Matthew Hawn 6’6″ | 290 lbs | OL CBA-Syracuse | 2025 State NY was the third. Hawn is a very talented OT prospect who should only continue to develop as he enters his Junior Year this fall.
