The Prep Redzone Rising Prospect Tour came through Oklahoma on Sunday and top talent from the state and even some of the surrounding states came out and showed out throughout the three hours in Broken Arrow. It started with combine testing and then went into individual drills, followed by 1 on 1 competitions to wrap up the camp. And throughout the week, we’re putting a spotlight on some of the top performers at each position from Sunday’s camp. In case you missed it, we broke down the seven players that were the positional MVP winners and you can read that RIGHT HERE. In this post, we’re putting a spotlight on four prospects that shined on the defensive side of the ball. Coincidentally, all four of these guys are currently listed at positions on the offensive side of the ball. And while they also participated in offensive drills on Sunday, it’s what they did on defense that got our attention.
When Owasso 2027 lineman Elien Reagan Elien Reagan 6’1″ | 280 lbs | OL Owasso | 2027 OK checked in for the camp on Sunday, I almost stopped him and said the high school camp was in the afternoon. Reagan already looks like he’s been playing high school ball for a few years. So without even doing anything on the field, Reagan already had our attention as he passed the eye test with flying colors. Then it was time to go to work on the line of scrimmage. And Reagan is the first of three guys who really shined along the defensive line, but Reagan was the most consistent in his ability to play on both sides of the ball. But the coaches kept pointing to Reagan during the individual drills on defense. And what’s scary is what his potential could be when the pads come on and he can really start hitting. What’s scarier than that? What he’s going to look like in another three to four years in Owasso’s program. Don’t be surprised to see Reagan find his way into the rotation early on in his high school career.
I would say that the (roughly) 250 mile trip to Broken Arrow was worth it for Arkansas 2027 standout Hayden Sublette Hayden Sublette 6’3″ | 210 lbs | TE Maumelle | 2027 State AR as he shined during the defensive drills on Sunday. Sublette was a new name for me as I primarily cover Oklahoma. He was again one of the prospects that immediately caught my eye just from the physical stats that he brought to the table. Sublette checked in and measured at 6’2 and over 200 pounds. He was listed on our roster as a wide receiver and as mentioned above, all four of these prospects are currently listed for offense. But Sublette has defensive lineman written all over him as he continues to grow. During the drills, Sublette was always finding a way around the guy in front of him. And a lot of times, it was done in the blink of an eye with quick hands and feet. I’m really impressed with the Arkansas product and I’m interested to see where he ends up in the future. There’s certainly a lot of potential there for him to be a star on both sides of the ball.
While I didn’t know anything about Sublette coming into the weekend, I was somewhat familiar with Ada 2027 Nate Boeck Nate Boeck 6’3″ | 195 lbs | TE Ada | 2028 OK prior to the camp. Boeck has played 7v7 football this offseason with C4 down in southern Oklahoma and has also had a really strong track season. Similar to Reagan and Sublette, it’s very easy to be impressed with Boeck right from the jump because of his size and athletic ability. Boeck also moves pretty well already. He had one of the faster shuttle times for a prospect his size. The faster times were all guys that were 40-50 pounds lighter than Boeck, and he was still in the ball park so the lateral quickness is clearly there. Boeck is already on the radar and there’s a good reason why when you see the size, the athletic ability and what he could be down the line. He was really impressive during the drills as he soaked up all of the coaching and was able to execute what he was being taught immediately. The Ada product has a very high ceiling.
After three defensive linemen in a row, we finally take a step back to the linebacker position where we had another good group, although it wasn’t as deep as we saw along the line of scrimmage. Washington’s Case Alexander Case Alexander 6’2″ | 170 lbs | LB Washington | 2027 State OK ran away with the MVP award but another prospect that really impressed me was 2027 athlete Rashad Reece Rashad Reece 6’0″ | 150 lbs | WR Norman | 2027 OK out of Norman. Like the three other prospects, Reece is listed on the offensive side of the ball but I thought he moved incredibly well when he was going through drills as a linebacker. He was right there with Alexander in terms of athletic ability and he also looked the part physically already. I personally didn’t see much of Reece on the offensive side of the ball but the defensive drills was enough for me to give him the nod. He’s a fluid mover and always keeps his head up and knows where to go at all times. He’s certainly going to be a name to know as he enters high school in the fall.
