One conference in particular, the Northeast 8, is a group of schools of note that have handfuls of stellar athletes. The conference consists of Norwell, Columbia City, New Haven, Huntington North, East Noble, Leo, Dekalb, and Bellmont. Take a look at these five guys from the NE8 that are primed to make some noise this season.
Caiden Hinkle
Caiden Hinkle
Out of all returning ball carriers in the Northeast 8 Conference this season, Caiden Hinkle tops the list in regard to rushing yards and yards per game. However, his game goes beyond what he records in the books. Hinkle is a physically imposing running back, standing at 6’3″, and he has shown to use that size to bury opponents into the ground. Despite his size, Hinkle can also put a move on potential tacklers to evade them. With that combination, tacklers have a hard time bringing him down. Don’t discount his speed, either! Once he’s by you, it’s tough to catch him. Only a junior this season, Hinkle will be looking to continue as a featured playmaker in Dekalb’s offense.

A historic season for Columbia City was led by dynamic playmaker Stratton Fuller Stratton Fuller 5’11” | 160 lbs | WR Columbia City | 2025 State IN in 2022. Fuller excels at all three phases of the game, where he is a game-changing wide receiver, a playmaking defensive back, and an excellent special teamer. In whatever he is asked to play, he excels at it. Fuller not only led the conference in interceptions a season ago, but also found himself near the top of the list for the entire state, with six. On offense, he recorded 53 receptions for 860 yards and 12 touchdowns. Fuller certainly has the ability to leave his mark on a game and can electrify the crowd with one play. Watch out for him to take another step as he attempts to lead Columbia City to back-to-back conference and sectional championships.

Highlights
Korin Harris
Korin Harris
Korin Harris is an absolute menace on the defensive side of the ball for the New Haven Bulldogs. He has a nose for the ball, as displayed by his 105 total tackles in 2022. His ability to identify the play, fly to the ball, and finish the tackle is well above average. When he brings the ball carrier to the ground, it is with great force, as he ensures that they have nowhere to go but to the ground. Harris’ athleticism is off the charts and he can meet a ball carrier at the line of scrimmage up the middle, or make plays in space. Offensive coordinators must keep an eye on where Harris lines up this year or it could be tough sledding for them with Harris manning the middle of the defense.

Brock Schott Brock Schott 6’3″ | 200 lbs | TE Leo | 2025 State IN out of Leo High School could be the next big superstar coming out of the 260. Whether it is causing headaches in secondaries across the NE8, or becoming an opposing quarterbacks worst nightmare when lined up on the edge, Schott is freak athlete that shines in both positions. He provides flexibility to his offense and gives the defense different looks with his ability to line up inside or split out wide and causes mismatches against opposing defensive backs. He stands above most defenders that he faces and that fight ends in Schott’s favor more often than not. Going into his junior year with the Lions, Schott holds offers from many Division 1 schools and that list will only continue to grow throughout this year and next. The Leo offense this year has the makings of being a high-scoring machine, and Schott leads the charge.

Dylan Krehl
Dylan Krehl
Dylan Krehl is a guy that provides flexibility to the East Noble offense as he can get it done on the ground out of the backfield or through the air. He totaled 8 touchdowns in 10 games a season ago and was efficient both on the ground and in the pass game. Running the ball, Krehl averaged nearly 7 yards a carry. When thrown to, he averaged about 13 yards per catch. Krehl is a weapon that opposing defense need to watch on every single play with his dual-threat ability. He’ll be a junior this year, so he has ample time to continue to develop into a major player in the conference.
