Continue ReadingThe PRZ Next Rising Prospect Camp Tour pulled into New Jersey this past weekend for one of two camps, on our final camps of the spring season. Unlike the rainy weather outside, the camp inside the bubble was hot and nearly 90 middle school athletes from various states got a ton of work in. Out of all the position groups, the Wide Receiver/Defensive Back group was easily the deepest when it comes to talent. Here’s a look at the top performing Wide Receivers from the camp.
The MVP of the wide receiver position group at the NJ/NY PRZ Next Rising Prospect Camp went to Murphy after a stellar performance. Could tell he was different from the moment he walked into the bubble. Was in the discussion for Defensive Back MVP of the camp as well, as a Safety. He’ll be at Don Bosco Prep in New Jersey.
A lot of the coaches kept commenting on how smooth “the kid in the checkered shorts” was throughout the camp. I’ve seen Busso play live on a number of occasions dating back to last spring and he never disappoints. He’s stretched out nearly two inches since the winter and is now right about 5-foot-10 and 145 pounds. He’s off to defending NJ State Champion, Bergen Catholic next year.

Horn Jr. is a wide receiver that exemplifies the importance of getting out to camps and combines, as he showed off a lot of skill. The 5-foot-6, 130-pounder gives up size right now–but still bigger than I initially anticipated. He runs very crisp routes, has some good wiggle and super reliable hands. He’ll be at St. Peter’s Prep next year.

In the intro I mentioned the tough weather, LaMonica and others made the trip down from Massachusetts and certainly made the trip worth it. I got a look at LaMonica this past March and again this past weekend. Both times I liked what I saw out of the 5-foot-11 and 145-pounder. Not the fastest or most polished, but was consistently good. He’ll be at Roxbury Latin next year.
After deciding to reclass to the 2028 class following a strong season for the New Jersey-based Matawan Huskies, there are already obvious benefits for Jones. While still very much on the thin side, he’s up to just under 140 pounds and stands 5-foot-10. Another year of training, maturing and packing on some muscle will serve him well. There’s a lot of skill and potential to work with here.

Like the Wide Receiver MVP Zakai Murphy Zakai Murphy 6’0″ | 170 lbs | WR Don Bosco Prep | 2027 NJ , there was no doubt that Laurent was a standout, but at which position was the question. The 2028 prospect was a new name to me and I’m glad I got to see the Brooklyn, New York native play live–because he can go. Personally, I like him more as a Corner right now, but either way he was really exciting to watch. Stands 5-foot-7 and 140 pounds with tremendous ball skills and quickness.
