Unlike the rainy weather outside, the camp inside the bubble was hot and nearly 90 middle school athletes from various states got a ton of work in. The linebacker group featured a nice mix of prospects we’ve seen a few times and some new faces. In addition, there was a solid mix of middle linebackers and outside linebackers. Here’s a look at the top performing linebackers from the camp.
It was a tough call at the end of camp, but ultimately the coaches and scouts felt Patrick earned the Linebacker MVP award. The 5-foot-11, 210-pounder is a true Mike Linebacker and lives to make plays at the line of scrimmage, inside the tackle box. He’s a thick kid, so keeping that size in check will be crucial going forward. He’ll be at defending NJ State Champion Bergen Catholic next year.
Every time we see Nate Walsh Nate Walsh 5’6″ | 160 lbs | LB PA in action, he does something to catch out eye. What he lacks in height (5-foot-5) he makes up for in effort, strength an on-field intelligence. There’s not much he (or anyone) can do about height, but Walsh is a rocked up 145 pounds with great strength for only being a 2028 prospect. Moves laterally very well, reads and reacts without hesitation and closes with outstanding quickness.

By my count, the PRZ Next Rising Prospect Camp in New Jersey was the third time I’ve seen Mays play live over the past calendar year–and this was his best showing. The 5-foot-8, 185-pounder has a lot of tools to work with as a linebacker. He reads and breaks down well, also does a good job of not playing out of control. The future Don Bosco Prep athlete must improve speed and overall athleticism to reach full potential.

I jotted down the prospect wearing jersey #22 at camp early during position drills and I kept noticing him make some nice plays throughout the day. Hernandez, a New York native that will be at Moore Catholic next year, is a linebacker that looks like he can play both inside and outside at this point. At camp I was impressed with his coverage skills, but after watching his film, I like what he brings from a run-stopping prospective too. 5-foot-8 and 170 pounds. This will be an interesting one to watch develop.

Hailing from Penns Grove, New Jersey, which is about as close to Delaware as you can possibly get on the NJ side, Walter Hudson Walter Hudson 5’11” | 200 lbs | LB Roman Catholic | 2027 PA Jr. did some nice things. He’s a bigger, taller Linebacker right now with the tale of the tape reading 5-foot-11 and 210 pounds. Showed a lot of effort in drills but also got lost in coverage at times, to the point where I wonder if a switch to Defensive End or Edge would better suit him. Has some good natural ability to work with. Further physical development will help him moving forward.
