It was kind of surreal seeing Nate Walsh Nate Walsh 5'7" | 180 lbs | ATH Wyoming Seminary College Prep | 2028 State PA at his final Prep Redzone Next Middle School event, as the Pennsylvania prospect heads to high school in the fall. Having attended a PRZ Next Middle School camp every year since he was in sixth-grade, he continues to standout from the crowd. An  athletic kid who is extremely self-aware of the limitations that come with his shorter height, yet doesn’t use it as an excuse or a crutch. He was probably the second best linebacker in terms of coverage, at the camp. He’s really well-built and has some obvious full-body strength. In talking to him after the event, he’s going to see what high school scene brings him, but he is “absolutely” open to making the move to Strong Safety. As I mentioned to him when spoke, Bob Sanders was the 2007 NFL Defensive Player of the Year and stood jut 5-foot-8. If he finds the right spot and situation, there’s no reason to believe he can’t play post-high school.

– Walsh is one of the middle school prospects I’ve watched from start to finish. First saw him as a sixth grader at our first ever PRZ Next showcase in New Jersey and now he wrapped up his pre-high school ball career with the Brick City Lions

– A tireless worker, quiet leader and was a great kid to have a conversation with. He has some decisions to make about high school ball, since he lives in Pennsylvania–about two hours from New Jersey–but has the attention of some of the private high school’s in North Jersey. Going the public school route in Pennsylvania is also on the table

– Athletically, he’s in the conversation with a lot of the better kids I saw at AYF Nationals. He has grown a bit, but is still shorter in stature in comparison to many other prospects that are starting to separate themselves–something he’s fully aware of. He’ll be one that I assume may be slept on early in high school in terms of rankings and such, however, he has the demeanor and ability to play after high school. It’ll just depend where and at what level

Every time we see Nate Walsh Nate Walsh 5'7" | 180 lbs | ATH Wyoming Seminary College Prep | 2028 State PA in action, he does something to catch out eye.  What he lacks in height (5-foot-5) he makes up for in effort, strength an on-field intelligence. There’s not much he (or anyone) can do about height, but Walsh is a rocked up 145 pounds with great strength for only being a 2028 prospect. Moves laterally very well, reads and reacts without hesitation and closes with outstanding quickness.

-Physically, he’s put together as well as they come on this level. Despite giving up considerable size at just 5-foot-4 and 133-pounds, he played substantially bigger and violently

-Was aware of him ahead of camp, but seeing him play in person solidified it for me. He obviously spends a lot of time training and working on his craft. I know he’s only in seventh-grade but my hang up comes in at size. Perhaps a position change to Safety or Corner on defense now, would benefit him in the long run. Especially if he keeps his ability, but that Linebacker size doesn’t kick in. Time will tell, here.
