This was a group filled with top end talent, rising prospects, and new names to know. It also gave us some impressive testing performances. Let’s dive into all of it, right here right now! We start with a 2023 still looking for his next level home…
An athlete looking for his next level home in the Class of 2023 that stood out was Reedsburg athlete Jacob Schulenburg Jacob Schulenburg 5’11” Reedsburg Area | 2023 WI . The senior checked in at 5’11” 152 lbs, ran 4.72 in the 40, broad jumped 9’2″ and had a 4.53 shuttle time. Jacob possesses solid length for the DB position, and was competitive in the one on ones. Until this point I wasn’t aware of Jacob. So, I had to go back to the 2022 highlights to learn more. That tape showed an athlete that makes plays in man and zone coverage. He is able to run with receivers, and has the recovery speed needed to rebound when beat. Jacob also has shown good awareness in zone leading to him going and making interceptions. I project him to be a D3 prospect. Teams looking to round out their recruiting classes should take a peak.
An athlete who used the day to improve his stock was the sophomore DB Nolan Anderson Nolan Anderson 5’10” | 180 lbs | DB Menomonee Falls | 2025 State WI . Nolan had a great day from start to finish. The 5’10” 170 lbs DB posted a 4.60 40 yard dash, 4.30 shuttle drill, 8’9″ broad jump, and a 7.34 L-Drill. That was just the beginning of the day. Nolan then went on to the position work and proved that those change of direction times were so strong because of his quick feet and loose hips allowing him to transition with ease. In the one on ones Nolan put it all together. He reacted quickly to the receiver’s breaks, had the speed to turn and run with them downfield, played the ball in the air really well, and won a lot of reps. A big junior year is on the way for the Menomonee Falls DB.

Another sophomore that is working his way onto the radars of the next level was the 5’8″ 165 lbs DB Chase Yinko Chase Yinko 5’9″ | 170 lbs | DB Monona Grove | 2025 State WI . Chase stated the day running 4.72 in the 40, 4.50 in the shuttle, and jumping 9′ in the broad. The compact DB demonstrated a short, choppy backpedal that allowed him to transition downhill with ease. I was also impressed with his quick twitch short area agility. It allowed him to keep up with receivers making sharp cuts on short routes. Yinko looks the part of a slot corner. I’ll be watching him closely this fall. He could have a key role on the Monona Grove defense.

The 5’8″ 140 lbs athlete rounded out our solid group of sophomore DBs. Adam posted a 4.81 40 yard dash, and 9′ broad jump. The on field drills and battles supported what the numbers suggested. Contreras is a more quicker than fast DB. A prospect that thrives in short areas. When you go to his highlights you see it show up as he is able to jump routes to create turnovers, and trusts that short area burst as he continually baits QBs into bad throws. I will be interested to see if Adam makes the move up to varsity this fall.

Makye is one of the more exciting freshmen I have seen in the Class of 2026. He is already up to 6′ 147 lbs with the length needed to succeed out wide. I first noticed Makye standing out during the position work. It is clear that Watkins is blessed with quick, smooth feet and hips that can flip, turn, and open naturally. Makye also stood out when we got to the one on ones. The freshman went toe to toe with the older athletes. His natural gifts allowed him to mirror receivers all over the field. His career should be a fun one to follow. He collected multiple INTs on varsity as a freshman, so he is off to a good start.

The MVP of the group was also one of the best performers of the entire showcase. Grant dominated the testing portion of the day with a 4.56 40 yard dash, 4.31 shuttle drill, 9’8″ broad jump, and a 7.06 L-Drill. All great numbers for the sophomore DB.
