The following players absolutely changed the game this past weekend! In one way or another, these players impressed. Now, let’s take a look at the Showcase’s top gamechangers!
QB | Ryan LaFear Ryan LaFear 6'0" | 175 lbs | QB Anchor Bay | 2025 State MI | Anchor Bay | 2025 | Hudl
Out of all the QBs who attended the showcase, Ryan LaFear Ryan LaFear 6'0" | 175 lbs | QB Anchor Bay | 2025 State MI was my MVP. He was lights-out, and on absolute fire throughout. LaFear by far had the best and most consistent ball placement of any QB. Some throws were simply perfect, and put in a spot that only the receiver could reach. A few offers were dished out right after the showcase, and I’m almost certain that LaFear would have earned an offer if he were in the class of 2024.
DL | Jaxson Engelberg Jaxson Engelberg 6'2" | 260 lbs | DL Caledonia | 2024 State MI | Caledonia | 2024 | Hudl
In a bit of a light OL/DL group, Jaxson shined, and even picked up his first offer from Lawrence Tech! It was impressive how well Jaxson was able to use his hands to get around blocks. He won just about every 1 on 1 rep I saw! In addition, he also looked great in the testing portion, and I look forward to seeing what the numbers show! For now, check out his tape and see why he’s earning college attention.
RB | Alex Guadagni | Canton | 2025 | Hudl
On tape, Alex looks like a solid RB, but had too little film / stats to earn a ranking. Now, he may have passed that threshold. In person, Alex was one of the shiftiest RBs in the building, with impressively quick feet and one-cut ability. I saw him win a ton of one on ones against linebackers, and he looked solid in the passing game as well. Still, I hear he probably won’t be the feature back for Canton this fall, which is a bummer. With another solid year of work under his belt, I see him garnering real attention at this time next year, then an absolute explosion during his senior season.
LB | Nick Waszczenko Nick Waszczenko 6'0" | 220 lbs | LB Clarkston | 2024 State MI | Clarkston | 2024 | Hudl
Nick is one of those players that impress me in person way more than the tape does. On film, Nick is a solid OLB with a knack for stopping the run, especially slower developing / option plays. Some of the best aspects of his film are that he’s smart, and plays with a ton of energy. Though, I thought his shortcomings come with his size (not much you can do) and his ability to shed blocks against good OL. In person, Nick showed all of his strengths and more. He was great against competition, and didn’t lose many battles. He looked loose and athletic during testing, and I eagerly await his results as well. He played with energy, enthusiasm, and my opinion on him has surely changed for the better. He’s earned his first offer as a result of the camp, and I look forward to what’s to come!
RB | Vegas Seay Vegas Seay 5'10" | 185 lbs | LB Brother Rice | 2025 State MI | 2025 | Brother Rice | Hudl
Vegas, like Nick, is another prospect that’s starting to grow on me for the opposite reason. With Vegas, I’ve always really liked his tape, but became weary once I watched him in person. See, his film shows flashes of great acceleration, strength, and vision. Not to mention various defensive highlights. But like I said, I didn’t love what I saw in person the first time. This time, he grew on me quite a bit. Vegas still doesn’t look like the most athletic or fit RB in the world, but he shines in a few areas. The 1 on 1s against LBs served as a highlight, and I liked the way he was moving in some of the agility drills. He wasn’t great on the passing game, but I won’t knock him for that. Knowing how well Brother Rice develops athletes, I see Vegas being a staple of this team for this fall and next fall. If Vegas can get more fit, stronger, and develop great balance, then he’ll get a ton of college looks.
