I’ve been compiling a list of recruits whom I believe are bona fide FBS/FCS talent. With the transfer portal, many high school recruits are getting overlooked who traditionally would’ve had more options. Three of the five prospects i’ve highlighted have D1 offers, while the remaining two are currently without any offers. Don’t worry; I’ll be the voice of reason that screams, “GET THESE KIDS TO YOUR SUMMER CAMP!”

HAWK’S OPINION:
Marco’s 6’4 but plays with a low pad level, which allows him to generate power firing off the ball. He displays great mobility playing the 3 technique on the defensive line. His base is low and solid off the snap, making it difficult to move him even when he is doubled. Marco has a great motor and demonstrates his athleticism in run pursuit, redirecting down the line quickly. He is also skilled at turning his hips while hand-swiping the offensive linemen while pass-rushing. He plays off of blocks well and displays good violence overall. As an offensive tackle, his athleticism can be seen in his ability to execute run blocks on multiple levels. He does a great job using his leverage for man blocking, which usually results in a pancake. Carone’s agility also helps him in pass protection against quick-twitched rush ends. Marco’s ceiling will continue to rise with a college strength program due to him only weighing about 255 pounds presently.

HAWK’S OPINION:
He’s got above average balance, and good top-end speed. Ty’s got the intuition to burst through tiny running lanes and he’s got the jets to kick it into high gear when he needs to. He’s elusive and can change direction on a dime – all while running full speed! Florence has fantastic vision and patience when he’s carrying the rock. He is a home-run hitter that averaged 8.6 yards per carry, that’s almost a first down every carry. And let’s not forget – this season alone, Florence put up six touchdowns in a single game. He’s shown the ability to be dominant and tough overall. Tyson has been drawing interest from Pitt, Holy Cross, and Akron on the recruiting front.

HAWK’S OPINION:
Connor has received 2 FBS offers, but he has several FCS opportunities on the table at the moment. Standing at 6’3 and weighing in at 280 pounds, he has the size that is college-ready. He is quick off the ball, powerful out of his stance, and has the strength to drive linemen backwards. Connor is surprisingly agile for his size and redirects down the line during run pursuit as well as any lineman in Western Pennsylvania. With a physical and nasty demeanor, he is typically a mismatch for most high school linemen. Connor exerts great effort and punishes ball carriers with his hits. On the offensive side, he excels as a down blocker, using his strength to drive defensive linemen out of the box. With his size and mobility, Connor has the potential to play at the FBS level in conferences such as the MAC, Sun Belt, Conference USA, and the AAC, where he has already secured offers from Army & Navy.

HAWK’S OPINION:
He’s got that lengthy 6’4 frame with long arms that you just can’t teach, and he’s still got room to add some bulk without losing his effectiveness on the field. When it comes to down blocking, Carter’s got good technique, and knows how to drive his feet through contact. His work ethic on the field can be seen in the way he finishes off defenders and drives them into the turf. Now, he may not be the quickest guy out there, but Carter’s a solid pass protector. I truly believe that if Carter can focus on consistently playing with a lower pad level, he has the potential to play at the FCS level – and who knows, maybe even improve and make it to the FBS.

HAWK’S OPINION:
Carter’s got that strength that lets him dominate the backfield. When he locks out on defense and fires out of his stance, you can see the power radiating off of him. He’s quick off the ball and his hands are very strong, he’s constantly clogging up the interior line. He’s got an above average motor and the agility to chase people down from behind. He consistently pressures the QB when he’s pass-rushing from the interior. Carter’s got a low get-off, hand violence and causes TFLs and strips behind the line of scrimmage. Carter’s only got FCS offers, but I’m telling you right now, that kid’s got the skills to play mid-major FBS football.
