Scouts at Prep Red Zone offer up a great, extensive list of ’25s. I’m guessing plenty of these names you’ll read about in this series will be on it.
Here’s the second installment:
Malachi Curvey Malachi Curvey 6'3" | 215 lbs | WR Ankeny Centennial | 2025 State IA , TE, Waukee – The 6-foot-3, 195-pound sophomore already reports scholarship offers from Iowa State and Kansas State and recently visited Iowa. Some schools might like him at outside linebacker. He shoots off the edge with good play diagnosis and balance. He pursues well laterally and fights off blocks. The athleticism plays on either side of the ball.
Trey Hicklin, OL, Urbandale – Hicklin is an interesting prospect in that he’s a recruit as an offensive lineman and a first baseman. Most guys play football skill positions if they play baseball. Perfect Game ranks him eight out of 10 on its scale, seeing him as a potential MLB draft pick and/or excellent college prospect. The scouting service named him a pre-season all-American. Iowa Football invited him to campus for a Spring visit. He possesses excellent potential there as well.
Jack Wallace Jack Wallace 6'3" | 205 lbs | QB Iowa City West | 2025 State IA , QB, Iowa City West – I’ve watched Wallace (6-3, 215) in person the last two seasons. He threw for almost 1,800 yards and 18 touchdowns against just two interceptions in nine games as a sophomore. He’s a strong, accurate thrower. While he prefers the pocket, he’s a good athlete who can extend plays and pick up yards with his legs when available.
Will Hawthorne Will Hawthorne 6'3" | 225 lbs | TE Gilbert | 2025 State IA , ATH, Gilbert – Another player who stands out for athleticism and potential to play at multiple positions at the next level. Hawthorne (6-2, 220) rushed for more than 400 yards, added 200 receiving yards and totaled 56.0 tackles (5.5 for loss) as a sophomore. Gilbert deploys him at middle linebacker, where he terrorizes offenses with speed and explosiveness to the ball, arriving with physicality. When he’s not possessing the ball on offense, he’s delivering crushing blocks as a fullback.
Jamison Poe Jamison Poe 5'9" | 150 lbs | RB Ames | 2025 State IA , RB, Ames – Poe (5-8, 160) rushed for 870 yards and 13 touchdowns as a sophomore, adding 39 receptions for 319 yards and five scores. He shows good patience and vision with a quick burst. He’s dangerous in space but can also break tackles, something likely to improve as he adds strength. He has soft hands in the passing game.
Drew Francois Drew Francois 6'4" | 250 lbs | LB Dubuque Senior | 2025 State IA , DE/TE, Dubuque Senior – Already 6-foot-4, 230 pounds, potential pops off Francois’ highlights. He’s fluid as a receiver and shows good technique as a blocker, finishing with an edge. His athleticism also plays off of the edge on defense, where he reads plays well, has good straight-line speed and sheds blocks.
RaShawd Davis, RB, Dowling Catholic – Davis (5-8, 180) rushed for 787 yards and 14 touchdowns as a sophomore for a Dowling squad that made the final four in 5A. His vision stands out on his highlights as does his ability to cut and accelerate. He shows a good feel and patience running inside and has an extra gear in the open field. He puts his head down and powers through when needed.
