For the safeties in particular, we have some of the best players in the entire state. You’ll be hearing these names on ESPN in the not too distant future.
If you haven’t heard yet, William Love William Love 6’1″ | 190 lbs | DB Camden Eastside | 2024 State NJ is one of the most sought after players in New Jersey. He has been getting looks from schools all around the country, and you can see why in the film. Playing multiple roles for Eastside in 2022, it’s hard to label Willy as a pure “safety”, but that seems to be the position he may be most suited for at the collegiate level. A mobile player and found all over the field, he’s quick with his decision making and harder with his hits. Willy will catch you’re attention in 2023 if he hasn’t already.
Kaj Sanders Kaj Sanders 6’2″ | 180 lbs | DB Bergen Catholic | 2024 State NJ is my top safety coming out of New Jersey in 2024. Playing along a loaded roster at Bergen Catholic, this team has dominated the past two seasons, winning state championships in both. Kaj is a straight up ball hawk. He plays the position like a centerfielder, have the bandwidth to go sideline to sideline every play. And good luck breaking a tackle from Kaj in open space, there’s a good chance it isn’t happening. With his big body for the position, he will have a seamless transition into the next level.
Jeremiah Pruitt Jeremiah Pruitt 5’11” | 180 lbs | DB Tom’s River North | 2024 State NJ is the hardest hitting safety in New Jersey. If he need a player to dislodge the ball from a receiver’s grasp when it matters most, this is your guy. He plays safety very stealthily, positioning himself against receivers that puts him in a better position than his opponent to get to the ball.
Jeremiah is really a triple threat, playing all three phases of the sport. You will find his elusiveness really shine on offense and as a returner. Defensively, he could play either cornerback or safety in college. He has great reaction time and finds his way to the backfield better than most. Jeremiah will be found all over the field his senior year.
Danny Platt Danny Platt 6’0″ | 195 lbs | DB Pope John | 2024 State NJ is that old school safety you loved watching growing up as a kid. A hard hitter, great size for the position, and a great last line of defense when the running back breaks it to the second level. Danny screams down field and executes flawless technique to wrap up the runner. He is part of a loaded Pope John 2024 class, so make your way to a game this upcoming season if you want to see Danny and Co. dominate opponents.
It seems like it would be a mistake for any quarterback to throw in the direction of Jeyshai Rosario Jeyshai Rosario 5’11” | 170 lbs | DB Union City | 2024 State NJ . The QB better be sure he’s throwing it on target, because if he’s off even just by a little, you can be sure it’ll end up in Jeyshai’s hands. He had multiple picks in 2022 where he flew into the frame at the very last minute to make a huge play for his team. Great pursuit down hill, Jeyshai is everything you would want in a safety.
