I started looking and decided the best way for me was to go by Classes. 11B showed some good teams this season, and a lot of good athletes. My goal with this article is to find an athlete to watch on different teams in each class. 11B did not disappoint! Check out the North Dakota 2024 Players to Watch!
Tyler Cruchet Tyler Cruchet 6'0" | 225 lbs | DL Central Cass | 2024 State ND (DL/OL)- Central Cass, Highlights
Cruchet’s game reminded me a lot of Daniel Bateman off of the movie ‘The Replacements’. It looked like his coach just told him to go find the football and make a play. That he did. Blitzing off the edge from a DE/LB position, he found himself in the backfield on various occasions. He still had the awareness to know how and where to find the ball even when he was unblocked most of the time. Knowing when to slow play the ball, or go flying in the backfield played huge for him in making most of his tackles. All of that on top of each led to his biggest quality, his motor. Playing with such a high motor to fly around and make tackles anywhere on the field.
Ronan Klindworth (RB/DB)- Beulah, Highlights
Klindworth’s tape was a lot of fun to watch because he did all the little things to the best of his ability. His fundamentals and IQ off of his reads put him in a great position each play on defense. When the ball came his way way, he kept his well disciplined manner in tracking and tackling the ball carrier. Also setting himself up in the passing lanes and making plays on the ball in the air. He continued to keep his outside contain when making tackles, but did a great job breaking down and wrapping the ballcarrier up around the legs. Offensively, he took pride in making the big block downfield to spring his gut free for the score. He could also be a good target out of the backfield.
Rayce Worley Rayce Worley 6'3" | 200 lbs | QB Langdon Area Edmore Munich | 2024 State ND (QB)- Langdon Area, Highlights
Worley has got a cannon for an arm. Watching him launch the ball a near 50+ yards on many throws and being accurate on them is really impressive. I liked the way he timed his receivers routes by rolling to the other side of the formation, then throwing a good ball to his receiver down the field. His athleticism really showed when his first read wasn’t there. Scrambling away from the pressure and keeping his eyes downfield to find the first guy that opened up. When he took the ball and ran, he was patient in waiting for the blocks to develop and made a big run for the offense.
Brock Jungels Brock Jungels DL Carrington | 2024 State ND (OL/DL)- Carrington, Highlights
In my opinion, Jungels is about the perfect size for a Center. His stocky frame and low-center-of-gravity makes it very easy for him to win the leverage battle up front. I like his coordination and drive, getting a quick, but good snap off and being able to quickly get into position to make his block. His quick feet and drive helped his leverage and helped him opened the middle gaps for the run game. On the defensive side, all those same attributes made him a big problem for the opposing offense. All the gaps he opened up, he was now plugging and making life very difficult for his opponents.
Jake Shobe (WR/DB)- Dickinson Trinity, Highlights
Shobe’s is a game-changer on the offensive side. The short passing game is his niche in the offensive scheme. Once the ball is in his hands and he gets to top speed, a first down, maybe worse is inevitable. He adds good vision and footwork to his offensive game as well. Defensively, I like the way he controls his side of the field. The way he does his job and finds himself in prime position to make plays. Adding his speed and he can make a play on both pass and run plays. I like the angles he takes when flying in from the perimeter to come up and make tackles. His form in fundamentally sound as well, being able to tackle ballcarriers of all sizes and speeds.
Landon Olson (RB/DB)- Hillsboro/Central Valley, Highlights
Olson is a ‘what you see is what you get’ type of player. Every play, he does his job and does it to the best of his ability. The best of his ability more than does the job too. On offense, he takes the handoff and runs through the line of scrimmage at full speed and runs through anything in his way. Always gaining yards because once he has the ball, he is all business. Adding some pretty good vision and some decent agility and he can turn a small play into a big one once he gets out of the box. Defensively, he also does a good job of keeping contain and making sure-handed tackle.
Carson Haerer Carson Haerer ATH Bottineau | 2024 State ND (WR)- Bottineau, Highlights
Haerer’s speed and agility is a definite killer for opposing defenses. Once the ball is in his hands, it’s tough to keep him from gaining 15 yards. He accelerates so quick that if you don’t have a guy hanging on him, you might not have a guy able to catch him. The way he can keep his speed when making his quick cuts makes him even tougher to contain. His athleticism is a difference maker, after running his clean routes, he can leap over defenders and make nice catches as well. Don’t let this speed talk fool you, he has balance and strength to muscle through tackles as well.
Austin Schneibel Austin Schneibel ATH Rugby | 2024 ND (RB/LB)- Rugby, Highlights
Schneibel has a great amount of balance in his power and finesse. He can run through the guys in front of him, sure. But he can also hit a juke move or put on a good spin to find the open space as well. I like his patience when letting blocks develop, but then how he hits the gap with conviction once it opens up. If the run game isn’t working, he does a great job being the screen guy. Selling the missed block and turning into a great target to turn the play into a huge gain following his blocks. Lastly, his motor is on another level. Even with three guys wrapping him up, he’s still turning the legs to gain every last yard.
Noah Schuette (OL)- Shiloh Christian, Highlights
Schette is another one that does a great job from the Center position. A good sized frame and strength help him win the battles in the trenches. I liked his footwork after the snap, getting him in prime position to make the best block on the play. His hand technique works really well to gain leverage while still driving his feet until his guy is on the ground. He does an excellent job exploding off the snap and getting that initial push to open the gap for the ballcarrier. Lastly he does an excellent job staying on his block and winning the hand fight with the defensive lineman every play.
Trey Skoglund Trey Skoglund 6'0" | 190 lbs | ATH Oakes | 2024 State ND (LB)- Oakes, Highlights
Skoglund shows a lot of intelligence from the LB position. Getting his read steps toward his gap each and every play, and reacting to the play accordingly. He takes really good angles in his pursuit, whether that would be right in front of him or across the field. Avoiding blocks and using his speed, he is one of the first defenders to the ball on various occasions. His speed also makes it easy for him to put pressure on the QB when he blitzes. He is a very sure handed tackler, not flashy just effective. On offense, his speed and vision help him find the gaps quickly and make a big play for the offense.
