A player’s recruiting influences their position in the prospect rankings, but it is rare for rankings to affect recruiting.
Unfortunately, there is no single solution for keeping every high school player from slipping through the cracks. The goal, however, is to continuously add as many names to the radar as possible to help garner attention toward the athletes within Colorado.
A good way to help an athlete gain attention and raise their prospect value is to attend college camps, have well-structured film, and be a proactive communicator via Twitter, email, text, etc.

This article will briefly look at seven newcomers to the 2024 wide receiver rankings.
Mellish had an outstanding season that landed him on college radars as a legitimate prospect. He has solid size, breakaway speed, and impeccable catching abilities, making him a specialist at gaining yards after the catch. His skills as a deep threat give him an advantage in one-on-one jump-ball situations that he finishes by violently ripping the ball away from the defender. Mellish is a Division I sleeper with similarities to a few past players who landed on FCS rosters.
Highlights
Samuel-Cortez is a recent radar pop-up who has started grabbing the attention of scouts because of his size and on-field talents. He is an explosive route runner with outstanding catching abilities. He is a physical receiver who can make catches across the middle and blocks downfield. Samuel-Cortez is an exciting player who has started to garner interest from college programs.
Highlights
Guerra is a player with raw talent and budding interest from schools, giving him serious upside as a prospect. He has good size and speed with reliable hands, but he excels at locating the ball and tracking it all the way into the catch. His acceleration out of his breaks helps him create space from defenders, adding to his appeal. Guerra is a two-way player who could become an asset for an in-state program.
Highlights
Lumpkin is arguably the biggest sleeper on the list, with one of the highest ceilings of any receiver outside of the top three. He completed his junior campaign as the second-leading receiver in yards with 1,286, proving himself as a legitimate security blanket for his quarterback. He has a solid frame with excellent strength and powerful running abilities, making him a tough ball carrier to bring down. Lumpkin possesses the qualities of an elite prospect with D1 attributes, putting him on pace to be the biggest stock-riser in the class once his recruiting gets going.
Cobb is a talented receiver with a high ceiling. He was the top-targeted receiver for the 4A state champions because of his blazing speed and impressive athleticism. He has the size and deep-threat abilities to be an outside receiver and the speed and route-running skills to line up in the slot. Regardless of where he starts, he can move defenders with his shifty release and exploit secondaries with his overall speed. Cobb is a player who could thrive in the right program, making him a must-scout athlete.
Meredith is an extremely talented multi-sport athlete who does an excellent job at the little things. He is a physical receiver with a true competitor’s mentality, giving him an advantage when blocking, making catches in the middle of the field, and lowering his shoulder for contact. Meredith is a well-rounded athlete whose football and baseball skills provide him with intangibles that give him an advantage over his opponents.
Moss is a relatively unknown player with legitimate potential to be a special pickup for a college program at the D2 level. He is a solid route runner with shifty breaks and good athleticism. His impressive catching abilities give him a wide catch radius, thanks to his impeccable focus and strong hands. His show-stopping catches helped him stand out during the most recent Prep Redzone Showcase, making him a radar low-flyer to know. Moss is a late bloomer as far as recruiting goes, but he is in a position to have a breakout camp season heading into his senior year.
