With some schools beginning to reach out to some of the upcoming stars in the game, it’s important to know about kids that are about to break the internet. The Class of 2027 is loaded with TONS of undiscovered talent around the country and here are some athletes that you need to know about now.
CJ Cowley CJ Cowley 5’8″ | 150 lbs | RB Spain Park | 2027 AL is an electrifying athlete that everyone needs to know about before it is too late. Coming out of the Yellowhammer State of Alabama, CJ has been exposed to some incredible competition very early on in his career. At running back, CJ is one of the rare breeds who has already been able to combine speed and agility when he is working out of the backfield. With the ball in his hands, CJ can accelerate to his top-end speed almost instantly. When CJ has hit that top speed, he still has the body control to change direction smoothly to keep advancing the ball. From what I have seen from CJ, it is obvious that he has a very high upside at running back. If he continues to follow this trend, I wouldn’t be surprised to see him appear on recruiting boards as a running back very soon. Alabama is about to feel the wrath of Cowley’s skillset very, very soon.
Matthew Avelar Matthew Avelar 6’2″ | 190 lbs | QB Salpointe Catholic | 2027 AZ is another quarterback out of the class of 2027 that everyone needs to know about. Coming out of the Grand Canyon State, Matthew stands just over 6 feet tall and measures to be about 190 pounds. On tape, Avelar can make plays in the pocket or on the run which makes him dangerous. Matthew has an elusive nature to him, which allows him to work at a high level under pressure. When he is scrambling, he has the ability to keep his eyes downfield and find an open receiver when he needs to. Matthew has also proven that he will not force a throw if there is nothing there, with that he also shows his ability to make plays with his legs and break away from the defense if he find open field. Matthew is very gifted as a quarterback. With him checking all of the boxes as a field general, it won’t be long until he starts getting recognized by some of the big time college football programs around the country. Matthew is an athlete that everyone should get excited as he is trending towards to top end of 2027 quarterbacks in Arizona.

Dominic Petrocco is a big-time offensive lineman that looks the part on paper and in the weight room. The Centennial State offensive linemen weighs in at a big 250 and stands at 6’2. Dominic has already shown glimpses of what he can do in the weight room. With a 520-pound squat, a 545-pound deadlift, and a 275-pound bench press Dominic is already hitting weight room numbers that most kids don’t see until they are juniors in high school. With his size and strength, it is clear why Petrocco has been able to do what he does between the hashes. At this level, he has no problem moving opponents around when he wants to. The way I see it, if Dominic can continue to build those numbers in the weight room, improve foot speed and continue to compete the way he does, he has a good chance to be playing on Saturday’s in the future. I wouldn’t be surprised if Dominic comes out as one of the most sought-after linemen in Colorado in a few years.
Nathaniel Bennett is a do-it-all athlete that people need to start keeping a close eye on. Coming out of the Jacksonville area of Florida, Nathan is a 5’10 and 200-pound playmaker who puts a lot of work in on the defensive side of the ball. At linebacker, Nathan is one of those rare playmakers who can shut down an offense with his style of play. His side-to-side speed makes him an absolute force on the field by allowing him to cover a lot of space quickly. In the blitz fit, Nathan can push through the line of scrimmage without much effort and put pressure on whoever is carrying the ball instantly. This past season, Bennett proved to be a member of a tremendous defense for the Duval Jaguars. It shouldn’t be long before Nathan begins to put together a high school career down in Florida. Continued growth and figuring out where he fits in that Linebacker/Defensive End/Edge position group, will serve him well.
Adryan is another do-it-all athlete who can get the job done on either side of the ball. The Peach State standout measures to be about 6’2 and weigh around 175 pounds. Adryan took Georgia by storm last year with some impressive stats. With him producing 2,000 all-purpose yards and having a role in 16 touchdowns, it is clear that Adryan is a play-making machine. On tape, Adryan proved how he was able to stack up a stat line as he had in 2022. Coming out of the backfield, Adryan has a knack for making people miss and creating run lanes. When he is able to get to the edge, Adryan has the top-end speed to blow past defenders and gain large chunks of yards with no problem at all. Overall, Adryan is a pure athlete who is just simply better than the competition, right now. There’s time to figure out what position he’ll end up focusing on, but it’s clear he’s one to know in Georgia for the class of 2027. Having said that, I am very excited to watch him go to work in the future.

Marshawn Sales is a wideout that has the potential to be an absolute game-changer for any team that he is a part of. The Hoosier State product stands well over 6 feet tall and weighs around 160 pounds, making him one big target to hit on the field. He was one of the best surprises we saw at the AYF National All-Star Game. Marshawn is one of those rare receivers who is elusive by nature. Whether it is his long strides that makes him hard to catch or his tenaciousness when he has the ball in his hands. As a route runner, Marshawn is a big play threat who knows how to get open against any coverage and expand plays with his legs. Marshawn is also athletically gifted and can change direction on a dime and make defenders miss whenever he needs to. From what I have seen from Marshawn, it is clear that he can make plays at a high clip. With the track that he is on, I would not be surprised if he took Indiana by storm these next couple of years and rack up some major accolades in the process.
