Continue ReadingThe MVP of the position group, Davis did a nice job all afternoon at the camp. The touch on his deep passes is among the best in the country I’ve seen for the class of 2027. He’s a thicker Quarterback in the neighborhood of 6-foot and weighing 205 pounds. By no means is it an issue at all right now, but the weight may be something to continue to monitor as he continues to develop. Since camp has since announced he will be attending Seton Hall Prep for his high school ball–which plays against some of the toughest competition New Jersey has to offer. The Pirates return starter Liam Londergan, so Davis should have at least a year to adjust to the speed of high school ball and learn. He’s the exact kind of kid you want to be the face of your program–special on and off the field.

When I tell you the MVP discussion was animated and close, you better believe it. Literally could have flipped a coin between Kahden Davis Kahden Davis 6’0″ | 200 lbs | QB Seton Hall Prep | 2027 State NJ and Massachusetts 2027 Quarterback William Wood William Wood 6’2″ | 195 lbs | QB Xaverian Brothers | 2027 State New E , with either one being completely deserving. While I was primarily watching Running Backs and Wide Receivers, that meant I occasionally got to see reps from Wood–and he’s legit. I’ve said several times, that he’s up and away the top Quarterback in all of New England for this 2027 class. There’s a lot to love about to the Xaverian Brothers High School prospect, who measured up at 6-foot-1, 178-pounds and ran a 4.84 in the forty. He enters high school with a lot of promise but will also have the luxury of sitting and learning behind 2024 prospect Henry Hasselbeck Henry Hasselbeck 6’3″ | 185 lbs | QB Xaverian Brothers | 2024 State New E . Hasselbeck is the son of three-time Pro Bowler and fellow Xaverian alum Matt Hasselbeck. He is currently committed to play lacrosse at the University of Maryland but also holds football offers from Pittsburgh and UAB.

Similar to the two Quarterback’s above, Bryce Carter Bryce Carter 6’3″ | 215 lbs | QB – | 2027 PA is another big Quarterback who will be entering high school next year. Carter measured in at just a hair under 6-foot-2 and 200-pounds on the dot. There’s a well-proportioned thickness to him, much like William Wood William Wood 6’2″ | 195 lbs | QB Xaverian Brothers | 2027 State New E , that wouldn’t make me hesitate twice about putting him in a Varsity game next year as a Freshman. He opted out of the forty yard dash, but turned in a 4.87 in the shuttle, which was one of the better times on the day. Overall not as consistent as Davis or Wood–who were nearly flawless on the day–but Carter more than held his own and competed hard. Without a question one of the top Quarterbacks in South Jersey for the class of 2027.

Only a seventh grade Quarterback, meaning he won’t graduate until the spring of 2028, Massachusetts Quarterback Rory Funke Rory Funke 6’2″ | 175 lbs | QB New E was lights out. Honestly, his name was brought up in MVP talk towards the end of the camp–which is rare for a seventh-grader. Measured in officially at 6-foot and 160-pounds and very large hands. Prep Redzone New England scout Vic Castillo said Funke’s zip and velocity on his passes was among the best he saw at camp. Funke threw with the younger Quarterback’s, and in retrospect, should have been up with the eighth-graders from early in the camp. Castillo and I also agreed that his touch and depth perception are well-advanced for his class. If you aren’t a believer in genetics yet, I’m going to continue to offer up examples. Rory is the youngest son of a former Boston College football player and a former Field Hockey and lacrosse player. His oldest brother, Jack, is an Offensive Lineman for the Eagles right now and his other brother, Dominic, made the Prep Redzone 2026 National Watchlist a year ago as an eighth-grader. During his freshman year he has picked up offers from Boston College, Rutgers and Temple. Ability runs in the family.
