PA Elite Winter CHP Series, PA Elite 18U Standouts

<p>I was met with a second opportunity to watch Bishop Canevin's future under center for the second time in a year. For a player this far out west, I consider myself lucky to see him throw against real talent twice in such a short period of time. Thinking back to Week One of the 2022 Fall season, seeing Olszewski throw the ball in live action, the toughness he showed stuck with me. Reps aside, I knew back in Week One that BC had a player in KO. What kind of prospect KO will turn out to be won't be answered in a 7v7 setting, however, seeing KO again in West Virginia further answered many questions I had about the young man. </p>   <p>Olszewski was accurate and decisive all event. It's tough to provide value to many QB reps at 7v7 events, yet timing and decisiveness are always my go-to's in settings like this one. Accuracy as well. Run the play the way it was designed, effectively and promptly, Olszewski did that with confidence. The most poised quarterback at the event I can argue, Olszewski tested a BOOM program filled to the brim with elite prospects. I could count on Olszewski to not be deterred and press opposing players deep. I can't remember too many balls hitting the turf. Elite performance put on by this young man. Xavier Thomas, the well-known corner out of PCC contributed on offense. Seeing him work at wideout was worth the trip. I have studied his game from afar, yet I was unaware of the ball-tracking and route-running skills he possesses. It's good to stash that knowledge in my back pocket if I ever have to vouch for him. Vouching for a young man this talented is easy to do alone, he won't be needing too much support from guys like myself either way. Thomas was tuned in at corner, yet he came down with one of the more ridiculous catches I've seen at a 7v7 event. Thomas reeled in a starting-point touchdown, in overtime, contested by two stud BOOM prospects. Was the play of the tournament. </p>   <p>I boast that [player_tooltip player_id='148535' first='Niko' last='Andrews'] is one of the more advanced route-runners I've come across in his area, which proved to be true. I got an extensive look at Andrews which was helpful considering his somewhat dry film. </p>   <p>Marquis Carter looked good catching the rock out of the backfield. I don't value too many reps for a prospect like himself in this setting, yet it was still nice to see and meet a kid I'm fond of. I got to take a look at his build a bit, he's admittedly built a bit better than I thought. Excited to see him run for 1,200+ this upcoming Fall. </p>   <p>Cooper Thompson, a new name to me, caught his fair share of balls for PA Elite. I was unfamiliar with his game, yet he stood out amongst many elite 2024 and 2025 prospects I'm fond of. Had I known his name prior, I'm sure he would place high on our 2023 rankings had they been redone. </p>    <p>Arguably the MVP of his age group, and that's saying something considering the number of studs PA Elite's 18U program deploys. I'm happy a prospect like Derek Selby stood out at West Virginia. I wouldn't call him a personal afterthought, but I hadn't had much of an opinion on the kid outside of watching his tape. I've been told time and time again to keep an eye on this kid, I had no choice but to watch him succeed at this event. I couldn't keep count the number of interceptions this kid had at this event, timely ones too. Throw his stature and build out the window, Selby had an answer to anyone testing him. I certainly don't expect to see kids DL/LBs like [player_tooltip player_id='259543' first='Grady' last='Papa'] and [player_tooltip player_id='377362' first='Matt' last='Boyce'] at events like this, let alone expect them to perform well. They are football players first, coverage guys second or third. Yet here they were, dropping back into zones, flashing quick feet, showing off any kind of lateral quickness they possessed attempting to close off passing lanes against some of the best skill guys in the Northeast. Take that for what it's worth. I loved the way both moved in space. [player_tooltip player_id='259543' first='Grady' last='Papa'] has no business playing padded linebacker, yet it's nice to see him move, that he did well. Papa is going to dominate offensive lines all Fall. [player_tooltip player_id='377362' first='Matt' last='Boyce'] learned a thing or two, his game could be helped by attending 7v7s like this. Yet he's another LB that is going to win with pads on. I might add, both these young men look terrific from a build perspective. </p>   <p>[player_tooltip player_id='386277' first='Logan' last='Carlisle'] is a name I want to rank, seeing him work at DB put him one step towards that rank. I know the kid is an incredible athlete, I didn't however, know about his prowess at corner. I have a lot to learn about the young man.
