would take in for a score. Anything on offense, anything on special teams is icing on the cake. We know Penn State, as well as other collegiate suitors, were courting Thomas on his potential as a defensive back. Thomas put on a clinic at two different positions against North Allegheny. The Central Catholic defensive line made things difficult for NAs QB to breathe in the pocket, so Thomas’s job was already half done. Exemplary play at both corner and safety, the young man is interchangeable among any of the DB positions in the secondary.
More than anything, I got to see an up-close look of a much more confident version of Thomas. The PCC community, coaching staff, his teammates, they see this side of him often. I, however, do not. The Big10 commit exuded swagger and arrogance, the type of mentality you need to dominate as a DB out West. This isn’t fabricated either, Thomas has grown in maturity and confidence because of the work he’s put in behind the scenes. The margin between he and the current top-ranked DB is razor thin. After seeing him work in person, I’d be inclined to name him the top overall DB prospect among all 2025 prospects.
After an amazing and memorable recruitment process, I’m excited to announce that I am 100% committed‼️ ⚪️🔵🦁 #WEARE@coachjfranklin @CoachTerryPSU @ZemaitisTouch_ pic.twitter.com/H89ZpC3KAq

is an absolute star on both sides of the ball. The Penn State commit can do it all on the football field. Thomas is an elite athlete with twitchy ability. He is the type of athlete every College Football team wants. As a cornerback, he does a great job in coverage. He also has legit ball skills and he is able to get his hands on multiple balls thrown his way. Then, as a wide receiver, he does a good job of catching the ball and making defenders miss. Thomas is one of the best prospects in the 2025 class.

is one of the best players in the 2025 class. He has already commited to Penn State to play defensive back.
Below is what my colleague Vic Castillo Vic Castillo RB PA wrote about him:

, at least in terms of ranking. I have no issues with the kid’s game, it’s proven by top-five rankings over the past two updates. That being said, I was on the fence as to whether or not Thomas was a legitimate Big10 corner. Penn State showed they’d seen enough out of the junior DB, proving I should go back and re-evaluate my grade on Thomas. I’ve done so, now ranking Thomas as a top-three DB in his class. Thomas would have likely stayed inside the top five even without the PSU validation. Thomas will join New Jersey’s Omari Gaines as the second DB to verbally commit to PSU among his 2025 peers. If there was any recruiter in the Northeast whose DB evaluations can’t be doubted, it would be Coach Terry Smith over at Happy Valley. I’d imagine”

Xxavier is a standout DB, similar to his older brother Rodney Thomas, who also plays DB but for the Indianapolis Colts in the NFL. He pedals with a low pad level and is a willing tackler. He’s an instinctive DB with good footwork that gives him an advantage when breaking on the ball. He’s a smart player with good route recognition. He’s also a dangerous returner, capable of taking a kick back for a score. Thomas showcases FBS talent, making plays on the football and executing press man technique. The junior CB/WR is a playmaker that I’m excited to watch this year. He currently has offers from Akron and Yale.

Xxavier comes from a family with an NFL pedigree, as his older brother Rodney Thomas plays for the Indianapolis Colts as a defensive back. X displays a willingness to make tackles and sound technique on keeping a low stance while playing. He has good body control and doesn’t overextend himself while breaking on the ball. When transitioning from a pedal to running alongside a WR, he does it smoothly. He is a competitor when in a one-on-one situation and has gained valuable experience in his position, despite having 2 seasons remaining. He has one FBS offer from Akron, but his pedigree and game experience should make him a prospect worthy of more opportunities.
