First, we will be focusing on the offensive side of the ball as we take a look at the top quarterback talents in the state. Bowling Green has consistently been one of the strongest quarterback areas in the entire state as two different teams have punched their ticket to the Class 5A championship game in the last two years. Today, we will be looking at the top quarterbacks in the area and will be analyzing their performances from last season. Here is my list of quarterback sleepers in Bowling Green to keep a close eye on when the 2023 season kicks off next fall.
Highlights
Deuce Bailey Deuce Bailey 6'1" | 170 lbs | QB Bowling Green | 2025 State KY , a 6-foot-1, 165-pound sophomore quarterback out of Bowling Green High School, was one of the best gunslingers in the entire Bluegrass State during his second season with the Purples. In addition to being one of the most threatening passing weapons in the entire state, Bailey led the Purples to the 2022 Kentucky Class 5A championship game against Frederick Douglass. During his first season with the Purples in the 2021 season, Bailey collected 101 completions out of 203 pass attempts, picking up 1,100 yards and eight touchdowns. Bailey built on his performance this past season, recording 221 completions out of 360 attempted passes for 3,136 yards and 34 touchdowns. His performance allowed Bowling Green to close out the season with a 12-3 overall record and a first place finish in 5A District 2 with a 3-0 mark. Bailey’s speed and throwing arm are what make him such an intriguing in-state quarterback entering next season. He will without question be looking to build on his performance from last season and get the Purples back into the championship game. Bailey has excellent field awareness and can both spot and complete passes anywhere on the field.
Dane Parsley
Dane Parsley
Dane Parsley, a 6-foot-1, 190-pound quarterback at Warren East High School, is another in-state gunslinger that made his presence known as a sophomore last season for the Raiders. In additon to being one of the best passing quarterbacks in the Bowling Green area, Parsley has also showcased his speed and efficiency on the ground as he closed out the 2022 season as one of the top rushers in the state of Kentucky. In the air, Parsley picked up 124 completions out of 203 pass attempts for 1,880 yards and 30 touchdowns last season. On the ground, Parsley recorded 148 rush attempts for 1,562 yards and 27 scores. Parsley additionally led Warren East High School to a 12-1 overall record and a first place finish in 4A District 2 play with a 4-0 mark. During his freshman stint with the Raiders, Parsley collected 51 completions out of 113 attempted passes, picking up 655 yards and five touchdowns. Parsley will be one of several in-state quarterbacks to watch during his upcoming junior season with the Raiders. One of the biggest contributing factors to Parsley’s skill is his overall knowledge of football and ability to overwhelm defenses on the ground and in the air.
Highlights
Bryce Button Bryce Button 6'2" | 195 lbs | QB South Warren | 2025 State KY , a 6-foot-2, 180-pound sophomore quarterback at South Warren High School, had an outstanding performance at the helm of the Spartans’ offense this past season, picking up where the team left off after defeating Frederick Douglass High School in the 2021 Kentucky Class 5A championship game. As a freshman quarterback prior to this past season, Button picked up playing time in eight contests, picking up 16 completions out of 29 attempts for 196 yards and two scores. As South Warren’s new starting quarterback this past year, Button picked up where the Spartans had left off as he became one of the top quarterbacks in the Bluegrass State. Over the course of 12 contests, Button recorded 168 completed passes out of 272 attempted passes for 2,021 total yards and 16 touchdowns. Button’s performance this past season helped lead South Warren High School to a 6-6 overall record and a third place finish in 5A District 2 with a 1-2 record. Button will be yet another intriguing quarterback prospect from the state to keep an eye on next season as a junior. What makes Button such an interesting quarterback entering next season is his arm strength, field awareness and ability to quickly find open receivers and complete deep passes down the field.
Ryan Huff, a 6-foot-3, 195-pound quarterback out of Greenwood High School, gave the Gators a significant offensive advantage this past season in his sophomore stint. Before starting at quarterback last season, Huff played at backup quarterback, competing in three games in which he attempted three passes as a freshman. Without question, Huff built on his performance during the 2022 season as he quickly became one of the most reliable offensive weapons on both Greenwood’s roster, and in the city of Bowling Green. Over the course of 12 games, Huff recorded 100 completions out of 184 attempted passes, picking up 1,656 yards and 16 touchdowns on the year. Huff also proved he can muscle his way into the endzone, picking up one touchdown on the ground. At the helm of Greenwood High School’s offense, Huff played a huge role in his team’s performance, leading the Gators to a 9-3 overall record and a second place finish in 5A District 2 play with a 2-1 record. Huff will likely be even more dangerous next season during his junior campaign as his arm strength and agility make him an explosive passing machine that can overwhelm even the best defenses in the state of Kentucky.
