So far I have written about several WPIAL players, all in 4A-6A. For this article I am going to focus on prospects at the lower level, 3A-1A. I think these prospects are often overlooked because they play at smaller schools. In the WPIAL there are a lot of really good football players at this level. Lets get started.

[player_tooltip player_id='64565' first='Quinton' last='Martin'] Belle Vernon. Martin is the number 2 player in the state and number 1 player listed under athlete category for prep redzone. This ranking is well justified because Martin is difference making player. His film is electric. He can make people miss and just runs through sure tacklers. Martin showed on his film he can play running back, wide receiver, punt returner and kickoff returner. Its easy to just dismiss that he is just a great athlete, which he is, but there is more to his game. There is a fluid motion to him game. Then he is able to bring a physical element to his game as well. He can run the ball, catch the ball and just break through the defense. He also has very good hands who can catch anything in his site. Martin is an awesome prospect to check out and projects as a high division 1 football player.

Brayon Thomas Union Area. Thomas is an unbelievable athlete who just can not get tackled. He played quarterback at Union Area, but projects as an athlete that could play several positions in college. I think in the right college system he can excel and do very well at quarterback though. Anyways Thomas is an elite athlete. He is so fluid with the ball in his hands that few people can tackle him or get him to the ground. If they do get a shot on him he is strong enough to run through the tackler. As a quarterback he has a good arm and throws a good ball. He is very good at throwing on the run. He projects as a CFB player at the next level with the opportunity to play at wide receiver, or defensive back or possibly as a quarterback.

[player_tooltip player_id='557736' first='Charlie' last='Meehleib'] Elizabeth Forward. Meehleib is a very good defensive end prospect. He uses his hands very well and has a great burst off the ball. With his burst off the ball he is able to use his leverage very well to attack offensive lineman. He has a great motor and is always attacking upfield or chasing down the field. He also has great size and know how to use it. Standing 6'4" he is able to attack upfield and if he cannot pressure the quarterback he has knock down the pass. Finally Meehleib is a player maker at defensive end. He is excellent when he gets through the line and making a sure tackle. Meehleib's recruiting is just started to heat up. He recently visited at Bucknell for Junior day. I expect several other CFB programs to check this defensive end prospect out.

[player_tooltip player_id='179418' first='Dereon' last='Greer'] Our Lady Sacred Heart. Greer is an elite athlete that can do everything at wide receiver. He can play slot wide receiver as well as outside wide receiver. He can play either very well. On his film I saw him run slant routes and make people miss and break tackles. I saw him run fade routes and high point the ball. Also what makes him an elite prospect is his size. Standing 6'1" Greer uses his size well to shield the defenders and to make the play on the ball. Greer also is very good after the catch. He can make anyone miss. Greer film is really good and is an underrated player. He should have a good chance to play CFB very soon and I expect him get offers after a strong Senior year.

[player_tooltip player_id='91527' first='Colin' last='Brady'] West Greene. Brady is an elite running back who can do it all in the backfield. He is very good at exploding through the hole and then breaking tackles and making people miss. He is so adept at running the ball, finding the seam and then just taking over. What makes him a truly special running back is once he gets in the open field he is gone to the house. He has great size and is someone you can imagine putting on more weight for his frame. Also Brady is very good at catching the ball. He has excellent hands and I could see him even developing into a wide receiver at the CFB level. Brady is a very underrated prospect. I expect he will get plenty of CFB looks in the future especially if he has a monster Senior year.

Marquis Carter Bishop Canevin. Carter is a really good running back prospect. He is very good at breaking tackles and running through contact. He is a classic one cut and go running back that does a great job exceling through a whole. He is a physical running back that never goes down after the 1st tackler. Carter running ability allows him also to make people miss in the whole. He is also very good when he gets into the open field. You give him an open seam and he explodes through it an he is gone. Carter recruiting has not heated up yet, but if he continues to excel and have a strong Senior year there is no reason why he wont be playing CFB in the future.

[player_tooltip player_id='255054' first='Dane' last='Levi'] Belle Vernon. Well I profiled Belle Vernon's best skill player, it is only fair to also breakdown its best lineman. Levi played left guard for Belle Vernon and he did not disappoint. He is a dominant player who is very good at firing out of his stance and mauling defensive lineman. He has a nasty streak in that he is always attacking defensive players. He is really good at blocking on the defensive lineman and then peeling off and blocking the linebacker. Finally not to be over looked is his feet. He has excellent feet and can move very well. That enables Levi to be a very good pass blocker. With a strong Senior year Levi should have a good chance to play CFB. He was recently given a chance to go to Lehigh's football camp.
