As these rankings have been finalized, I have decided to break them down by position. With that being said, I will kick things off on the offensive side of the ball. After already covering the quarterback and running back positions, here are my final 2023 wide receiver rankings for the state of Kentucky.
Jakob Dixon Jakob Dixon 6’5″ | 200 lbs | WR Pleasure Ridge Park | 2023 State KY is a player that jumped onto my radar quickly this season and established himself as the most talented senior wide receiver in the state. Dixon had an impressive senior year, catching 64 passes for 1,089 yards and 15 touchdowns. He is a very dangerous threat in the deep passing game as he has the speed to run right by opposing defensive backs to create separation. Dixon also has shown the ability to make plays after the catch. He has the elusiveness to make defenders miss in the open field while also using his speed to run away from the defense. I also liked what I saw from Dixon as a blocker as he is very physical and does a great job of driving his man out of the picture. Jakob is committed to Kentucky where I can see him developing into a key contributor on offense.
Chandler Godby Chandler Godby 5’9″ | 170 lbs | WR Pulaski County | 2023 State KY is a name that became a regular in my articles this season. This is due to an unbelievable senior year in which Godby finished with 93 receptions for 1,677 yards and 28 touchdowns. Godby proved to be the complete package at receiver for Pulaski County this season. He has the speed to run by defensive backs in the deep passing game and the smooth route running skills to create separation all over the field. Godby also showed the ability to turn short passes and screens into big gains and touchdowns, using his elusiveness to make defenders miss in the open field and speed to run away from the defense. He also showed that he is a very dangerous threat as a returner on special teams, returning two kickoffs for touchdowns this season. Godby is committed to Georgetown College where I see him quickly becoming a key piece of their offense.
Highlights
Jayshawn Shannon Jayshawn Shannon 6’3″ | 185 lbs | WR Fairdale | 2023 State KY is a receiver that quickly caught my attention this past season. Shannon finished strong in his final season of high school football, catching 42 passes for 791 yards and 12 touchdowns. He is a very dangerous deep threat on the outside, using his speed to run by opposing defensive backs to create separation. Shannon also showed the ability to adjust to the ball when it was thrown behind him and use his reliable hands and athleticism to make catches at the highest point. He also showed that he is a very reliable blocker, blocking with a ton of physicality and showing the ability to drive his man down the field in the run game. Shannon also showed value on special teams, returning one punt for a touchdown this season. Jayshawn holds offers from Eastern Kentucky, Thomas More, and Charleston (WV), and I can see him being a productive college wide receiver for any of those programs.
Khalil Rogers Khalil Rogers 5’11” | 170 lbs | WR Owensboro | 2023 State KY is a wide receiver that I was high on coming into this season that continued to impress during his senior year. Rogers finished his high school career on a strong note, catching 41 passes for 463 yards and seven touchdowns. He is a very impressive route runner, using his quickness in his release and in the breaks in his routes to create separation. Rogers also has the speed to run by defensive backs in the deep passing game and the athleticism to go up and catch jump balls, even when tightly contested. He is also very dangerous after the catch, using his speed and elusiveness to turn short passes and screens into big plays. Rogers also scored one rushing touchdown this season and was used as a returner on special teams. Khalil currently holds offers from Indianapolis, Indiana State, and Morehead State, and I see him developing into a very productive receiver at the next level.

Rounding out my final top five 2023 wide receivers in the state of Kentucky is Tylon Webb Tylon Webb 6’3″ | 185 lbs | WR Frederick Douglass | 2023 State KY . Webb played a key role in Frederick Douglass’ 5A State Championship run, catching 40 passes for 644 yards and six touchdowns. Tylon is a very dangerous threat on the outside, using his speed to blow by defensive backs in the deep passing game. He also has very reliable hands, showing the ability to look in passes and catch the ball away from his body. Webb also has shown the ability to make plays after the catch, using his speed to turn up the field and run away from the defense while also showing the ability to make defenders miss in the open field. He is also a very physical blocker in the run game, showing the ability to drive his man down the field. Tylon is committed to Army where I see him developing into a very reliable receiver at the next level.
