Continue ReadingIn December Scott Satterfield was named head coach of the Cincinnati Bearcats football program. Leaving a lot of commits in limbo as to their situations. Satterfield would do an in-home meeting with an assistant and Tengesdahl would be reassured that the University of Cincinnati was the place that he wanted to be. Tengesdahl is a well put together 6’4 285 pounds. With room to add good weight and strength. On the field Evan has good feet does a good job anchoring and blocking in pass-pro. He has heavy hands and the upper body strength to literally throw defenders. He plays with an edge and can be a vicious finisher. I think he profiles perfectly to the interior offensive line. I can’t wait to see how Evan continues to grow and develop as a player.
Carter missed most of his junior season due to injury. In his senior season he would come for everything he missed helping lead Ironton to the state championship game. Though the Tigers would fall short in that game Carter finished what was a great high school career. Trevor is a 6’1 205 pound hybrid linebacker. He has the speed and athleticism to make plays in both the run and passing games. He has the speed and the pursuit to fly around and make plays behind the line of scrimmage. Once he reads and fires, he gets to the ball in a hurry. He also has the feet and the hips to drop and run in coverage. I think the Bearcats will look to put some weight on Carter and get him up into the 220-225 range. Where he can still run and cover, but can also set an edge in the run game.

Burns is a 6’4 245-pound defensive end from Gahanna Lincoln HS. I think Burns’ position at the college level will depend much on how he continues to fill out and get stronger. I think there’s a good chance he could grow into a rush tackle in college, but only time will tell. Burns is a fun watch on film. He’s an extremely physical player who plays with violent hands. When he gets to the play, he’s looking to punish the ball carrier. For as strong and physical as he is, Burns has the acceleration and speed to run down plays, which for a player of his size is really impressive. As Kamari develops and starts to push his way on the field, I have no doubt that Bearcat fans will fall in love with Burns’ physical brand of football.
Perkins is a long athlete who played both sides of the ball for Ironton. Ty will play the wide receiver position at Cincinnati. He a combination of length and speed you don’t see all that often. He doesn’t just have the speed; however, he runs really strong routes that create separation. He does a really good job of setting up his routes and many times leaves db’s turned the wrong way. Oddly enough he reminds me someone that Bearcat fans will be familiar with, Alec Pierce. Very similar body type, great explosiveness, and speed and the ability to go get it when the ball is in the air. I really believe Perkins is a very good get for the Bearcats and will contribute for them on offense in the future.
Jackson is a cornerback from Fairfield HS who committed to play football for West Virginia. At 6’1 175, Jackson is the prototype for what college defensive coaches are looking for in 2023. He has long arms he uses to jam receivers. He has the feet and hips to easily transition directions, he’s just a smooth athlete. You can tell he loves to play press man and get in wide receivers’ space. He plays with a little bit of an edge, and if you’re near the field you may hear him doing some talking. The confidence that he plays with is necessary at his position and playing at the P5 D1 level. A cornerback is going to get beat every now and then, and they need to be able to mentally respond. Jackson has that ability. He’s a fierce competitor. As he continues to add weight and get stronger, I’m really excited about Jackson’s future at West Virginia.
Jackson is the twin brother of Josiah Jackson Josiah Jackson 6’0″ | 175 lbs | DB Fairfield | 2023 State OH . Josiah was the first to be offered last January, but a couple months later Jordan would get his offer. Like Josiah, Jordan is slotted to play defensive back for the Mountaineers. Jordan played a lot of running back for Fairfield, but he’ll play defensive back for WVU. Jordan has a smooth back pedal and good hips. He combines good speed and athleticism with sound technique. He tracks the ball well and has good hands. Jackson also did a good job as a gunner on the punt team earlier in his high school career.
Cam originally came on the recruiting scene as an athlete who played quarterback, wide receiver and safety. At Iowa State Smith will play safety. Cam is an explosive play making athlete. At safety he’s smooth in his change in direction and takes great angles to the ball. At 5’11 185-pounds Smith has a solid frame to build on and plays a physical brand of defense. For that reason, I like him as a strong safety at the college level. He takes good angles in pursuit and he’s an excellent tackler in the open field. He has a high football IQ and awareness.

Louis was all set to head to Western Michigan before the Broncos would change head coach and changes to their staff. At that point he would reconsider and on signing day he would sign with the Cyclones of Iowa State. I’ve liked JJ since his sophomore season. At 6’2 215 JJ is already very well put together physically. He plays a downhill physical brand of football. Louis is very comfortable in space as the Elks would line him back in the safety position from time to time and Louis took good angles and was fast to the ball. Playing outside linebacker at the college level JJ will have a chance to continue to add weight and strength and athleticism that will profile well at the linebacker position. He’ll also have a chance to be a playmaker off the edge as a blitzer.
