They can never take plays off and have to the mindset, that their next play is going to be their best play. Here are several defensive backs who fit that description at the PRZ Next Texas camp last weekend.
McGree has rangy, athletic build with great length and uses his hands to knock wideouts off of their axis at the line of scrimmage. During the one-on-one sessions versus the offensive players, he excelled in press coverage showing off his physical play at the line of scrimmage and his strength at the point of attack is one of his best attributes. In the agility period of the camp, McGree displayed his pristine footwork, with the shiftiness to change direction smoothly and he transitions into his backpedal without false steps. In reviewing some of his in-game tape from the fall, he shows off his skills on both sides of the ball and has the versatility to be a playmaker from anywhere on the football field. McGree will be making headlines under Friday night lights in 2023.
Barnett had a standout performance and left no doubt that he is one of the top defensive backs in his class. Braylin was a blur during the combine session of the camp, blazing a 4.51 forty time, one of the fastest times overall on Saturday. He is a twitchy athlete with excellent length, who moves well in space and he has the ability to shift gears effortlessly. As he progressed through the agility drills, he showed off his clean footwork, as well as his fluidity in his hips, which allows him to stay in phase without giving ground during coverage. Braylin plays with a swagger and confidence beyond his years. He has a rangy, athletic build that will enable him to continue to add bulk. Barnett put all on notice that his stock is on the rise.
