Below we will highlight some of the top new additions at the running back position and highlight some players that cracked our updated 2023 PRZ rankings. All of these prospects can make a impact at the college level and have next level talent while coming off tremendous Senior year campaigns.
Lopez is a compact well put together back that has a few college options in hand as we move closer to NSD. He holds offers from Ottawa, Clarke College, Arizona Christian and Jamestown. On tape, he is a vertical straight lined runner with natural lean, good leg drive and always falls forward gaining the extra yards while playing a lot bigger than he looks. Showing a nice initial burst through the whole, he will continue to develop third level speed through out his college career and should be a nice pick up for any college roster as he is a balanced back with a high floor.
Although a bit undersized, Eafon is a twitchy and elusive playmaker that can impact the game as a returner and out of the backfield. He flashes elite open field speed, short area quickness and the ability to make defenders miss in the hole, while forcing defenders to take poor angles in the open field. Quick enough to bounce it outside, he also runs tough in-between the tackles and is tough to bring down due to contact balance and short area vision.
Thrower is a very physical and violent two-way player that can do damage on both sides of the ball in college, depending on the level. He is a bruising runner that is tough to take down in traffic and shows leg drive, a low hat, natural lean and runs through arm and ankle tackles consistently. In the open field, he shows good vision with cutback abilities and can maneuver through traffic without losing speed. Very light on his feet while looking for contact in the hole, he has a second and third level gear that makes him tough to catch from behind. Entering into our recent rankings as a top 15 player at his position, he is without a doubt a next level kid.
Fuentes is a small school impact player that should collect D-III interest as we get closer to the second and final NSD. He is a big and physical back that likes to get downhill quickly and is tough to bring down once he gets going due to lower body strength, leg drive and contact balance. Waiting for his blocks to develop, he is a patient runner that can fit in tight windows while making defenders miss in the hole and flashing some third level breakaway speed, which is impressive for an athlete his size. Defensively, he has natural instincts from his outside linebacker position, can cover in space and is a big time hitter in the box. Overall, a very good football player that cracks our top 20 running backs across the region.
