Desoto, Duncanville, and South Oak Cliff High school all made their mark on history. All three teams gave superlative performances and did what it took to bring a state championship back to their school. The district of doom is an appropriate nickname for these historic programs because of how close they all are to each other.
DUNCANVILLE SUPERLATIVES
Colin Simmons Colin Simmons 6'3" | 225 lbs | DL Duncanville | 2024 State TX – Duncanville High school- Class of 2024
Colin was an X factor for them the whole season and was one of the most impactful players on their ferocious defensive front. He is an explosive edge defender that put opposing offensive linemen in the blender all year. He continues to wreak havoc versus North Shore and was the edge to help Duncanville’s legendary Head Coach bring home his first state title. After his dominant performance, he updated his recruitment and talked about how Alabama and Texas are sticking out from the rest.
Benjamin Taylor-Whitfield – Duncanville High school- Class of 2023
Benjamin is a 6’5 290 pound offensive tackle out of Duncanville that I have had the chance to watch since the summer and he did a fantastic job getting better week by week. His position Coach Xavier Joe was not surprised by his development and predicted his success early on citing his love for the game and how serious he takes his technique. He will be heading off to TCU on scholarship soon and leaves behind a legacy of excellence.
DESTOTO SUPERLATIVES
Dj Bailey – Desoto High School – Class of 2024
DJ is a 2024 dual treat quarterback prospect that played some of his best football down the stretch for Desoto. His leadership, poise, and arm strength were all huge keys in helping Desoto get over the hump and bring home a state title. Since seeing him this summer he has progressively improved week by week and will be a huge factor in his squads hopes of repeating.
Ronnell McLain – Desoto High school- Class of 2024
Ronnell is a 6’4, 310 pound versatile offensive linemen out of Desoto, Texas that took his game to an entirely new level this fall. Since seeing him in the summer while he worked his technique he has developed himself into a highly regarded prospect with multiple division one scholarships. In the playoffs he was lights out and blanked out his defender in pass protection and did a great job getting movement and displacement in the run game. From his superlative performance this fall I’m positive he will see his offer count grow and he will be exciting to watch on the summer camp circuit.
SOUTH OAK CLIFF SUPERLATIVES
Jordan Rowe – South Oak Cliff – Class of 2024
Jordan is a smart, tough, and physical offensive lineman that was reliable in the run game for SOC down the stretch in the playoffs. He dominated in the state championship and was impressive with his strikes, balance, and ability to refit back into posture. He has a bevy of high major scholarship offers and from my evaluation has a shot to make a huge impact on a college offensive line room with his ability to play multiple positions.
Brione Brooks – South Oak Cliff – Class of 2023
Brione is pound-for-pound one of the biggest offensive linemen that we have seen in the playoffs this past fall and he was by far one of the most dominant. The TCU commit was strong at the point of attack, nasty in short-yardage goal-line situations, and completely eclipsed his defender. What was most impressive to me was his motor and the ability to strain to finish that he has. He put defenders on skates all night and help SOC bring home the title and the third state championship ring to one of the most competitive areas in the DFW now effectively known as the district of Doom.
