Continue ReadingI’ve come across numerous freshman phenom wideouts in my time covering HS football. Many win with ridiculous size, many win with otherwordly speed. David Rodriguez David Rodriguez 6’1″ | 155 lbs | WR Mount Pleasant H.S. RI. | 2026 NewE , who is being courted by UConn, Kentucky, UMass, and Pitt, wins in an advanced way. He isn’t 6’5, 220 pounds, he might run a 4.40, yet I don’t come across wideouts this young with this nuanced of a route running package. Who needs to be 6’5 or run a 4.3 40 when you are damn near impossible to stay with in the open field. Awesome release off the LOS, Rodriguez masters changing tempo when attempting to stem DBs. Great ankle bend and balance allows Rodriguez to cut without losing too much speed. Uses his hands well when planting/ coming out of his plant. Eats up cushion with a purpose. There’s an incredible attention to detail displayed in his routes from top to bottom, I hardly see upperclassmen displaying this kind of nuance. Production at Loomis Chaffee is only going to increase, as Rodriguez will provide quality reps at nearly any pre-snap alignment. It goes without saying that the young man still has room to grow into his pads. Rodriguez will stay atop our 2026 rankings for years to come.
Here’s a young man who earned all of his varsity snaps at Tottenville HS. Gianni Pasqualone Gianni Pasqualone 5’10” | 150 lbs | ATH Tottenville | 2026 State NY is just getting his feet wet, making plays all over the field in limited action. It’s a plus to see a young prospect doing the easy things well early on. Pasqualone’s freshman tape has him making plays all over the field. He’ll keep a secondary honest with his vertical speed. He can track the ball well for his age too. Will more than likely be used at the LOS more as his career progresses. Excited to see what kind of production we’ll get out of Pasqualone next Fall.

Noah Mather
Noah Mather
Here’s a young Monroe athlete who has his hands in everything. His tape starts with solid DB/LB play. The tape finishes with equally impressive reps at wide receiver, where Mather’s impact might be felt the most. Mather’s reps at safety are legit. He cleans up runs well, comes downhill with intention of delivering real hits. A ton of production close to the LOS for Mather. Monroe likes to feed Mather the ball quickly off the snap, throwing him plenty of slants, hitches, screens, and curls. He’ll be a consistent eater in this offense.
Malique Anglin
Malique Anglin
Say what you will about Malique Anglin’s size at tackle, the young man can locate and blow his assignments off the ball. Despite the less-than-desirable frame, Malique Anglin out of Wachusett Regional High School owns his matchup each rep thanks to his innate ability to keep his legs churning. Anglin does a ton of the little things right, thus leading to winning reps more often than not. Active puller, a punishing finisher. Will be asked to be kicked inside at some point in his career, his pulling reps will help him succeed in the interior. Wonder if he has reps on the defensive side of the football, his size might help him utilize leverage against bigger offensive linemen. The kids brings energy and attitude on tape too. Interesting prospect.
Kadear Dembele
Kadear Dembele
Here’s an exciting and athletic first-year lineman whose tape left me more than impressed. The number of athletic linemen that win with their quick feet are few and far between, Kadear Dembele is one of them. Violent hands and happy feet allow Dembele to be in position to handle a myriad of pass rushers that test him. He’s seen paving the way for in goal-line situations. He’s then seen on an island absorbing bull rushers with size. There is a lot to like about this young man, I’m unsure of his recruitment, yet more tape like this and he’ll be well on his way to garnering FCS-level attention at the very least. Body type looks like a potentially suitable frame from IDL or even MLB, that’s how lean and athletic this young man presents himself.
Matthew Hawn Matthew Hawn 6’6″ | 290 lbs | OL CBA-Syracuse | 2025 State NY is a 6’6, a lean 260-pound left tackle out of Christian Brothers Academy. Technically sound, Hawn should have plenty of FCS schools in the New England area ready to send the letter early. Hawn has plenty of room to grow, both physically and mentally, yet I can tell this is one of those linemen prospects you want to get your hands on as early as possible. Hawn moves seamlessly through the trenches, he almost looks like a tight end at times considering his slim frame. Slim might not be the correct adjective. Hawn is asked to pull at tackle, with CBA often leaving the opposing EDGE prospect unblocked and in line to be blocked by Hawn. I’d love to see more punishing finishes out of Hawn, a nitpick to his tape. Aggression and confidence in his game can develop over time, he is still an underclassman.

We started the piece with a highly regarded freshman prospect, we will finish with one that will end up in the same category. Good on our New York scouts for identifying and ranking Messiah Hampton Messiah Hampton 6’1″ | 170 lbs | WR Monroe | 2026 State NY early, before his first FBS offer out of Buffalo. 6’1, 160-pounds, Hampton scored on 8 receptions while also recording 2 interceptions on the year. He’d best be described as an “ATH” considering he flashes quality reps on both sides of the ball in his sophomore tape. Good amount of reps where Hampton plays above his build, whether that be providing a big target in the red zone or high-pointing balls over smaller DBs. What’s impressive is Hampton doesn’t give up too much in the YAC department. Hampton can blend the two styles into one, forming one of the better all-around pass-catchers that I’ve come across in his class. Can’t forget about his proficient reps at safety either.
