IOWA CITY, Iowa – Iowa is becoming more fertile ground for college prospects with each passing year. It's growing at a rate I didn't see coming when I started covering preps in the state during the 1997 season.

Still, schools hesitate offering scholarships to some recruits. It could be that they're flying under the radar, coaches may want to see them at junior days or camps, they speculate that a bigger program might swoop in for the player or a variety of other reasons.

The Class of 2024 is shaping up to be special. So special, that I'm breaking up evaluations into multiple articles to fit everybody in. Here's a look at my first installment.

Here's another group:

[player_tooltip player_id='320562' first='Graham' last='Beckman'], QB, Iowa City Liberty

Beckman (6-2, 200) turned into a revelation for the Lightning in 2022, leading it to its best season in the young history of the program. The first-year starter completed 63.2 percent of his passes for 2,580 yards and 31 touchdowns with only four interceptions. He added 320 yards rushing with four scores. Beckman displays a strong, accurate arm with an ability to throw on the run and extend plays with his legs. He makes good decisions and has room to grow in all areas. He visited Iowa and Nebraska this season, and North Dakota State, Drake, Penn and others are showing interest. He should be receiving more attention on the recruiting trail.

You can watch Beckman's Junior Highlights HERE.

Braylon Jenkins, OL/DL, West Des Moines Valley

Jenkins (6-4, 270) jumped out to me when watching the Tigers at the UNI-Dome in the state semis and finals. He possesses the requisite size and athleticism scouts seek in an offensive lineman. He comes off the ball well, plays with good leverage and drives well with his legs. He's strong up top as well and shows solid technique. Jenkins visited Iowa and Iowa State this season, and camped at Nebraska in the summer. I expect interest to pick up this winter and spring.

You can watch Jenkins' Junior Highlights HERE.

[player_tooltip player_id='245840' first='Keaton' last='Roskop'], TE/DE, Marion Linn-Mar

Roskop (6-3, 215) put together a fine junior season, catching 20 passes for 415 yards (20.8 YPC) with eight touchdowns. He moves fluidly and runs good routes. He shows reliable hands and the ability to deliver chunk yards after catch. He also is a willing and able blocker. While offense is his likely spot on the next level, I wouldn't rule out defense. He piled up 12.0 tackles for loss in '22 with 31 solo stops and a sack. He's visited Baylor, Iowa, Iowa State, Nebraska, North Dakota State and South Dakota State. He's overdue for an offer.

You can watch Roskop's Junior Offensive Highlights HERE.

You can watch Roskop's Junior Defensive Highlights HERE.

[player_tooltip player_id='269240' first='William' last='Stobbe'], OT/DT, Waukee

Stobbe (6-4, 260) took a big step forward this fall and should have the attention of college coaches. The Waukee junior is technically sound and plays with an edge through the whistle. The pad level is good as is his leg power, which helps on both sides of the ball. I like how he holds up on offense but also could see him causing issues for opponents from inside of a defensive front with his motor and athleticism. He has visited Iowa, Iowa State, North Dakota State and North Dakota, and camped at Iowa, Iowa State, Nebraska, UNI and Minnesota St. during the summer.

You can watch Stobbe's Junior Highlights HERE.

Calvin White, LB/FB, Cedar Rapids Kennedy

The younger brother of Iowa walk-on running back, Max White, and the son of Kennedy head coach, Brian White, Calvin White (6-0, 210) has football in his blood. Like his older sibling, Calvin stands out for his tenacity and toughness. If the opponent lets up, he'll take advantage because he goes 100 percent all the time. I could see him as a linebacker/hybrid at the next level and fullback certainly is a possibility. He camped with Iowa and Iowa State in the summer. He's visited Western Illinois, and North Dakota State has been showing him interest.

You can watch White's Junior Highlights HERE.

[player_tooltip player_id='248017' first='Chase' last='Lamb'], LB/LS, Waukee Northwest

Lamb (6-3, 215) covers a lot of territory from his linebacker position. He racked 89.5 tackles in '22, 75 of those stops were solo. He added 7.0 tackles for loss and a sack. He moves very well for his size and closes quickly to the ball. Lamb brings the added bonus of excelling as a long snapper. There's plenty of room to go before he hits his ceiling. He's visited Iowa and Iowa State as a recruit.

You can watch Lamb's Junior Highlights HERE.

[player_tooltip player_id='247922' first='Drew' last='Larson'], QB/DB, Iowa City High

Larson (6-2, 180) broke out this fall on both sides of the ball, which isn't easy at the 5A level. He completed 68.0 percent of his passes for 1,841 yards and 19 touchdowns against four interceptions despite missing games with an injury. He added 303 yards and five scores on the ground. Defensively, he picked off three passes. He also caught a TD pass. Larson certainly can play quarterback in college but his athletic ability makes him a prospect at defensive back and receiver as well. He's receiving interest from Iowa, Iowa State, North Dakota State and others.

You can watch Larson's Junior Offensive Highlights HERE.

You can watch Larson's Junior Defensive Highlights HERE.
