Jamar Malone, QB, Higley ’25
Malone is a big time player and is another elite AZ QB product, and proved that he can make big time plays in big time games. He threw for 254 yards and 2 TD’s and rushed for 86 yards and 2 TD’s on 10 carries to hangup 41 points on a tough Cactus defense to win the title. Very impressive dual-threat QB who checks all the boxes as a top upcoming player in the country.
Will Galvan Will Galvan 5'9" | 160 lbs | ATH Cactus | 2023 State AZ , ATH, Cactus ’23
Galvan is a kid that has proven to excel from anywhere on the field. He rushed for 83 yards and 2 TD’s on 16 carries and was the main reason Cactus was in the fight. Very well rounded athlete with nice twitch, burst, and football IQ that is well deserving of a home next fall.
Carter Hancock Carter Hancock 5'11" | 160 lbs | WR Higley | 2023 State AZ , WR, Higley ’23
Hancock had a big game and was the main target for Malone, racking up 176 yards and a TD on 8 receptions. He had an impressive year and showcased that big play ability in the state championship with the ability to make opponents miss and be dangerous in space. Really impressive night for Hancock.
Nikko Boncore, WR, Cactus ’25
I said it a while back that Boncore was developing into a dangerous football player for Cactus, and he proved me right by securing 6 catches for 132 yards. The sophomore had over 1,200 yards receving this season with 9 TD’s and flashed a bit of everything you look for in a WR. I have high expectations for Boncore moving forward.
Daxen Hall, ATH, Higley ’24
Hall did a great job all season and also stepped up when it mattered the most, tallying 21 carries for 123 yards and a TD on Friday night. I really like his balance and COD, as he flashed the ability to stick his foot in the ground and cut on command. Shifty in space as he showcased a nasty spin move to bust a long run, and is a dynamic player to get on your board as we head into 2023.
