Running Back of the week
Aidan Duda Aidan Duda RB Rock Canyon | 2023 State CO , Rock Canyon Jaguars (RB)(SR.)- For a team that likes to run the ball and run it well, Duda is in a league of his own. The kid is a beast and he put up the numbers to prove it. He had a crazy 43 carries for 341 yards and 3 touchdowns to go with it. Duda has great vision is fast and physical at the point of contact. The Jaguars are one of my sneaky teams to make a run this year and it will definitely be because of this kid. They will look to continue this week against Columbine another team who relies on the running game.
Diego Cearns Diego Cearns RB Eaglecrest | 2023 State CO , Eaglecrest Raptors (RB)(SR.)- Cearns is a case that you hate to see the season end early for because he is a great back and probably didn’t get the looks he would’ve if he was at a bigger school. Cearns had 18 rushes for 161 yards and 2 touchdowns. When you look at his tape you wonder how he doesn’t get more touches because he is really that explosive. He is fast, has good vision, hits the hole and has good hands being able to catch out of the backfield. Will have to wait and see if he gets a chance at the next level or if he has to walk-on somewhere.
Alex Martinez Alex Martinez 5'9" | 180 lbs | RB Legend | 2024 State CO , Legend Titans (RB)(JR.)- Martinez had a strong showing in a close first round win that he rushed the ball 36 times for 170 yards and 3 touchdowns. Martinez has nice route running ability out of the backfield and he follows his blocks well letting them set up for him. His team will rely heavily on him in the next round and he will have to have more explosive plays to open it up more for himself.
Aaron Wehmeyer, Mullen Mustangs (RB)(SR.)- It is not often that you see too many kids playing both sides of the ball for the Mustangs but Wehmeyer is on of those exceptions. He is a physical safety that will come up and hit you can he brings that to the offensive side of the ball. Wehmeyer had 24 carries for 144 yards and was able to break 1,000 yards on the season as well. Is a back that is capable of catching the ball out of the backfield and tries to make the most out of his touches.
Kullen Lerma, Legacy Lightning (QB)(JR.)- The Lightning were able to shut out the Wildcats and Lerma didn’t need to pass the ball much only completing half of his attempts going 9-18 for 87 yards. Not a great day on the passing front but Lerma made up for it with 13 rushes for 146 yards and 3 touchdowns. Lerma and the offense will have to try and balance it out more next round if he want to get past Pine Creek.
