O’Connor coming out of the 6A division, went 7-3 this season and won their last 2 games to get into that final seed. With a matchup against Liberty, here are some names to watch out for on the field.
Blake Ware Blake Ware 5'9" | 190 lbs | LB O'Connor | 2023 State AZ , Linebacker, 2023
Blake Ware Blake Ware 5'9" | 190 lbs | LB O'Connor | 2023 State AZ is a 2023 outside backer for the Eagles, and is a solid player for their defense. Led the team with 61 total tackles, averaging 4 tackles for loss. Plays the pass very well, and I really liked when he would play on the line of scrimmage and solidify the edge. Apart of the 2021 All-Region team, Ware has 7 offers so far and more to come.
Ryan Davis Ryan Davis 6'5" | 240 lbs | DL O'Connor | 2023 State AZ , Defensive End, 2023
6’5″, 235 lbs defensive end plays hard and hits hard. Davis was tied for the lead in sacks this season with 3.0, and had 29 tackles. Great in the run game and also shows spots where he can drop back to pass or even chase down wideouts in space. Ranked #27 in his class on Prep Redzone and commited to Kansas State, Davis will need to come to play when facing Liberty, needs to stop the run game and help his team out.
Izik Durazo, Running back, 2023
Durazo might be the most important offensive player for O’Connor in this matchup. The Eagles win when Durazo plays well, in fact they win when he rushes for 90 or more yards in the game. Averaging almost 100 yards a game, 4 games with over 100 yards, and 11 total touchdowns. Durazo needs to be affective in order to keep Liberty off the field, and allow his team to score points.
O’Connor faced Liberty less than a month ago, with the outcome in Liberty’s favor 53-0. O’Connor needs to be able to run the ball, play the possession game, and steal possessions with takeaways. 12 total takeaways, they will need a few in order to have the upset of the year.
