Landen Hamm
Landen Hamm
Mr. Hamm worked on both sides of the ball during this contest as an offensive guard and defensive tackle as a 3 tech. On offense, he can drive block well to create a running lane for his teammate to hit and has a good frame standing at 6’4. One area to keep an eye on is how aggressive he is when run blocking as I believe this is what’s going to set him apart from other lineman in the state. He also flashes his ability to anchor in pass pro to keep the pocket clean for his QB. On defense, he worked as a defensive tackle and flashes his ability to meet the ball carrier in the hole for no gain – could also have potential here too. Overall, look for this young man to be the next O-Lineman prospect out of Peotone as they continue to have at least one that goes on to play at the next level each year it seems like.
Mr. Sroka gave his all during this Friday night matchup with his hard running style and keeping his feet driving through the whistle. What stood out the most was how he was able to put his hand in the ground when it looked like he was going to fall to stay up and continue to fight for extra yards on the play. The result of this was finishing the night with 130 rushing yards for 2 TDs. On defense, he works as a linebacker that flashes his ability to come on a blitz shooting into the gap to secure tackle for losses. He also flashes his ability to slip blocks to disrupt plays in the backfield as well. All in all, this young man has potential on both sides of the ball for the next level and currently holds no offers.
Mr. Piper has been on my radar for a while now and he continues to improve each season with his relentless work ethic. This young man can work as a fullback where he can maintain a low center of gravity to break weak grab tackles and showcases his downhill running style. He also was able to get into the endzone in the 2nd off a fullback dive. His main position is on defense working as an inside linebacker. Here, he can close quickly between the tackles to secure tackles in the hole for little to no gain on the play. What stands out the most about this young man is how well he wraps up to secure tackles and limit the chances of ballcarrier’s breaking his tackles. This was seen all night long where it seems the ball carrier might do so but Mr. Piper was able to secure those shoe string type tackles not allowing the ball carrier to break a long run. Overall, this young man holds interest and offers from the Division 3 level at the moment – there’s no doubt that he will make his impact felt on the next level. Twitter
Mr. Amaskane was on the watch list coming into this season and has really honed his craft this past offseason. He can both wash defensive lineman down as well as drive block defenders off the ball creating a running lane to run through. Both of which happen with his punch at the point of attack to jolt defenders upright and get his hands inside – at times this resulted in him putting defenders into the dirt. What stands out the most about this young man is his pass pro where he can get out of his stance to mirror and use a quick punch to get hands inside tying up the rushing defender at the point of attack. There’s a reason why he works as the blindside tackle. Not to mention he got into the endzone on a two point conversion in the 4th to cap off his high school career. Currently holds interest across the D3 level and is going on a college visit to Monmouth College Nov 5th. Twitter
Highlights
James Kuypers
James Kuypers
Mr. Kuypers is a quarterback that came onto my radar earlier this season and is one that has potential to play at the next level. He can add a touch on the ball, both on level 2 and level 3 throws, where he gives his receiver a chance to come down with the 50/50 ball. On one play, he did so for a 25 yard gain to keep the chains moving and drive going when the momentum was in Princeton’s favor. He does also flash his ability to throw on the run adding zip on the ball in tight coverage. This was seen on a 4th down and long conversion delivering a bullet to his receiver’s chest to get into scoring position. It’s this type of potential that stands out as he’s still more of a raw QB prospect with untapped potential. He can also play defensive back as well where he came away with a few pass breakups.
Mr. Rivera is going to be the next man up as the blue devil’s lead back these next few seasons and you can see why with his skillset. As a wingback, he has the vision to find running lanes between the tackles and has lateral quickness to turn the corner. On one play he broke a 20 yard run when doing so. He’s also used in the return game where he can hit the alley hard with his foot quicks. There were a few instances where you thought he was going to break it for a long run but got shoe string tackled last second. Be sure to get an early look on this young man as he untapped potential yet to come to light and is already in contention as a top 20 halfback in the state for his class. Twitter
Estaban Anaya
Estaban Anaya
Mr. Anaya is a defensive back that didn’t give up on plays by taking pursuit angles to secure chasedown tackles downfield. He also was able to drive through the receiver upon securing the catch to deliver the hard hit forcing pass breakups. This young man also was used in the return game where he was able to bounce plays outside to set his team up in good starting field position. He also got in for a two point conversion in the 4th to cap off his high school career.
Ruben Velasco
Ruben Velasco
Mr. Velasco is a new name to me as he took over to start the half due to injury. This young man does have good arm strength and can add a touch on the ball. His arm strength is one to keep an eye on moving forward as he can hit deep shots downfield but needs to learn how to control it better as this lead to an interception in the 4th. The caveat here is that there’s still two seasons left for him to hone his craft and gain Varsity experience as he spent the whole season playing on JV. He also got into the endzone off a QB sneak in the 4th.
Honorable Mention
David Reidy David Reidy 6'2" | 180 lbs | LB Peotone | 2023 IL 23′ TE 6’2 185
Rorey Hart 25′ WR
