Every single Monday on Prep Redzone Oklahoma, we’ll get the week started with a look at the top ten games across the state of Oklahoma. And this week, it’s all about Class 5A and Class A as some of the best games of the week take place in those two classes. But as the district races continue heating up, there are great games all over the state and we’re breaking down the ten best right here. Check back every Monday as we break down the top ten games every single week during the 2022 regular season.
1) #5 GROVE (7-0) AT #8 COLLINSVILLE (7-0)
Headlining this week’s action is defending 5A champion Collinsville hosting Grove in a battle of unbeaten teams. There’s no doubt that the winner here is going to all but lock up the district championship, but they’ll also be taken very seriously as state title contenders. And for both, Friday’s game will be the toughest test for each so far this season. Collinsville has not missed a step coming off their state championship a year ago. The emergence of senior quarterback Kaden Rush Kaden Rush 6'3" | 200 lbs | QB Collinsville | 2023 State OK has kept the Cardinals right in the state championship picture. And on the other side for Grove, everyone knows about senior running back Emmanuel Crawford Emmanuel Crawford 5'10" | 170 lbs | RB Grove | 2023 State OK . But his backfield partner in senior quarterback Carson Trimble Carson Trimble 6'1" | QB Grove | 2023 State OK has been a player to watch since he was a freshman as well. This shows how deep 5A is this year with two undefeated teams at #5 and #8 in the latest rankings.
2) #4 GUTHRIE (6-1) AT #2 CARL ALBERT (6-2)
Staying in Class 5A for our next top game and going to arguably the toughest district in the state with 5A-2. #2 Carl Albert is ready to host #4 Guthrie after taking down Bishop McGuinness on the road last week. And before that, Bishop McGuinness took down Guthrie on the road. These top five teams are now beating up on each other and we knew that’s how it would play out before the season began. Carl Albert is led by star junior running back Xavier Robinson Xavier Robinson 6'2" | 225 lbs | RB Carl Albert | 2024 State OK , who has made 200+ yards and four touchdowns look routine. Meanwhile Guthrie bounced back from the loss to McGuinness with a dominating win over Southeast last week. The Blue Jays feel like they should be undefeated right now and they can make up for it at the expense of the Titans. With a Carl Albert win, they’ll be closer to the district title. If Guthrie wins, things could come down to a three-way tie.
3) #6 TONKAWA (7-0) AT #4 HOMINY (7-0)
We go from Class 5A to the top game in Class A this week, and there’s a several, as #4 Hominy plays host to #6 Tonkawa in a battle of undefeated teams. Hominy has been one of the most battle-tested teams this year as they’ve played a difficult non-district slate, in addition to playing in arguably the toughest district in Class A. So there’s no doubt that the Bucks and their junior quarterback Jaxon Woods Jaxon Woods 6'0" | ATH Hominy | 2024 State OK will be ready for Tonkawa in this top six showdown. Tonkawa has looked great so far this season, with all of their wins coming by double digits. But they’ve definitely not faced a team like Hominy and specifically a player like Woods. But what they’ll try to do is keep the ball out of Woods’ hands, and they have a good chance at succeeding. Tonkawa’s strength has been in the run game this year and if they control the ball, Woods can’t hurt them on offense.
4) #3 RINGLING (7-0) AT #9 WYNNEWOOD (6-1)
While the clash of the unbeatens in Class A might be the better game on paper, the one in Class A that we’re looking forward to most is #9 Wynnewood hosting #3 Ringling. The Blue Devils are just as dominant as ever and the calling card for this year’s team is once again on the defensive side of the ball. But they aren’t just a defensive juggernaut. The offense has been outstanding this season as well as they’ve found the perfect balance between the passing and running games. But they’ll be facing off with one of the best players that they’ll see all year with Wynnewood sophomore standout Caden Knighten Caden Knighten 6'1" | 180 lbs | RB Wynnewood | 2025 State OK . The dynamic sophomore has run for nearly 20 touchdowns on the season and he already is considered one of the top prospects in the state’s 2025 class. The winner here is no doubt moving one step closer to locking up the district championship.
5) #3 MUSKOGEE (7-0) AT #5 BOOKER T WASHINGTON (4-3)
Right now, it looks like we’re on a collision course for a week ten showdown between unbeaten Muskogee and unbeaten Stillwater. But a team that can throw a wrench into those plans is #5 Booker T Washington, who is still hanging around the district title race. The Hornets have bounced back from their loss to Stillwater and the passing game has looked outstanding. This will be a great quarterback match-up as we’ll see Booker T Washington senior Lathan Boone Lathan Boone 6'1" | 175 lbs | QB Booker T Washington | 2023 State OK and Muskogee sophomore Jamarian Ficklin Jamarian Ficklin 6'1" | 180 lbs | QB Muskogee | 2025 State OK . Both have put up some monster numbers so far this season. The biggest difference in the game will be which defenses can step up and create stops and turnovers on Friday night. With a win, the Hornets are right back in the mix. For Muskogee, another win this week continues the momentum towards that week ten showdown with Stillwater.
6) PLAINVIEW (5-2) AT #3 HERITAGE HALL (6-1)
Despite Plainview coming off a surprising loss to Pauls Valley, this is still one of the marquee games in Class 3A as they head to Oklahoma City to face #3 Heritage Hall. The Indians made a risk, going for a 2PT conversion and the win at the end of the game and came up short, losing to Pauls Valley and their standout Justin Humphrey Justin Humphrey 6'2" | ATH Pauls Valley | 2023 State OK . They’ll look to correct that mistake when they face a Heritage Hall team that is starting to play some of their best football right now, which is a scary thing to think about for the rest of Class 3A. Since they got their star senior running back River Faulkner River Faulkner 5'11" | 205 lbs | ATH Heritage Hall | 2023 State OK back to start district play, the Chargers have been lights out. He’s run for at least 100 yards and two touchdowns in every game. But this begins the toughest stretch of district play for Heritage Hall. They host Plainview this week before going to Sulphur and Marlow to wrap up the regular season.
7) #4 BRISTOW (4-3) AT #6 CASCIA HALL (5-2)
The teams in district 4 in Class 3A continue to beat up on each other and we get another top ten showdown because of it as #6 Cascia Hall will play host to #4 Bristow and their flexbone option attack. This game became much more interesting after the results in the last two weeks. Bristow stunned Verdigris in week six but followed that up by narrowly beating Jay last week. Meanwhile, Cascia Hall got shut out by Verdigris last week and they come into this week’s game with a mentality that it’s a must-win game for them. The Commandos can stay in the district title picture with a win but a loss all but guarantees that they’ll have to go on the road in the first round of the playoffs. Cascia bounced back in a big way from a loss earlier this season and they’ll need to do that again. For Bristow, they’ve been a hard team to figure out this season but we’ll get a better picture of them after this week.
8) #4 BROKEN BOW (6-1) AT #9 HILLDALE (5-2)
It’s the top game in Class 4A this week as Hilldale will host Broken Bow. The Savages come in after jumping into the top five, following a 28-14 win over Poteau. That certainly put Broken Bow right in the middle of the state championship picture, let alone put them in the lead to capture the district crown. The Savages are led by a strong senior quarterback in Christian Brumley Christian Brumley 6'1" | QB Broken Bow | 2023 State OK , who is having an outstanding season this fall. The Savages can all but lock up that district title with a win on the road. But if Hilldale is able to play spoiler to Broken Bow this week, that will cause a little more chaos when it comes to the district title race. Broken Bow did a good job of limiting Poteau’s success in the run game last week. And now they’ll have to stop Hilldale senior running back Eric Virgil Eric Virgil 5'10" | 175 lbs | RB Hilldale | 2023 State OK , who has been one of the best senior running backs in the state this season.
9) #10 STIGLER (6-1) AT #1 LINCOLN CHRISTIAN (6-1)
Some of the shine of this Class 3A match-up got taken off last week when Stigler suffered their first loss of the season to Muldrow and their star running back Trenden Collins Trenden Collins 6'2" | ATH Muldrow | 2023 State OK . Nevertheless, this is still a marquee game this week as the Panthers look to bounce back, traveling to Tulsa to face off with top-ranked Lincoln Christian. The Bulldogs have held on to the top spot in Class 3A from the start of the season. The only setback was a loss in Arkansas to Shiloh Christian. They looked absolutely dominant last week in another blowout win and they once again have one of the best teams in Class 3A. This is a very important two-week stretch for Lincoln Christian as they host Stigler this week, and travel to Muldrow next week. The Bulldogs have an offense that can beat you in a variety of ways and that will certainly give Stigler some problems on Friday.
10) KIEFER (7-0) AT #6 BEGGS (5-2)
The best game in Class 2A this week takes place in Beggs as the Golden Demons welcome in Kiefer. Beggs began the season 1-2 with blowout losses to Rejoice Christian and Verdigris in back to back weeks. But since then, Beggs has won four straight and with a win on Friday night, they’ll be in the driver’s seat to capture the district crown. Beggs has been led this fall by junior running back Red Martel Red Martel 5'11" | 195 lbs | RB Beggs | 2024 State OK , who has firmly established himself as one of the best running backs in the state. On the other side of the match-up, you have a Kiefer team that comes into this week with a perfect 7-0 record and they’re knocking on the door of the 2A top ten rankings. But there’s no doubt that this week eight match-up with Beggs on the road will be their toughest test of the season so far. The winner here will be int he driver’s seat for the district championship.
