and you can make the argument that he’s been one of the best backs in Class 4A over the last few seasons. Virgil is a very explosive running back and has been incredibly productive over the last few seasons. And the thing that really stands out about Virgil and that production is the consistency that he’s played with over the last few seasons. He’s certainly one of the more reliable running backs in the state’s 2023 class as you can count on him to not only make big plays, but to show up week after week throughout the season.

. We really don’t like to throw around the “Underrated” tag that often because when you use it all the time, it loses meaning in a big way. But Virgil is one of the more underrated prospects in the state’s 2023 class. He has been a very productive player over the last three seasons and he’s looking to close out his high school career by taking Hilldale to new heights in the playoffs. Virgil is also flirting with 2,000 yards on the season. Odds are that he will hit that number on Friday night as the Hornets open up their playoff journey against McLain at home. In our 4A preview, we listed Hilldale as the “dark horse” and if they end up making a run, it will more than likely be because Virgil could not be contained.

once again could not be stopped as the Hornets rolled to the win. He finished with over 250 yards and four touchdowns on 20 carries. The Hornets did all they could to capture the district championship but came up just short. They had to sit around and wait for the outcome of Ada-Broken Bow on Saturday. If Broken Bow had won, Hilldale would have captured the district title. But Ada pulled off the win. Hilldale will still host a first round playoff game and they have a ton of momentum going and Virgil will be one of the top running backs in the 4A playoffs.Access all of Prep Redzone

has been one of the more productive backs in Class 4A over the last three seasons. If the Hornets make a deep run in the playoffs, Virgil could eclipse 2,000 yards rushing on the season. He’s been outstanding all year for the Hornets and has been incredibly productive. The only game Virgil was limited this year was against district foe Poteau, another top ten team. But then he bounced back with a big game against another ranked team in Broken Bow. So we will definitely have our eye on Virgil as the Hornets go into the playoffs. We want to see what he does when the competition is at its highest. But there’s no argument that Virgil knows how to put up numbers and get into the end zone. He’s definitely a prospect to watch at this already deep position.

is enjoying a career year as he wraps up his high school career with the Hornets. Through five games, Virgil is already over 1,100 yards and 16 touchdowns on the season. He’s well on his way to going over 2,000 yards and over 30 touchdowns at the pace that he’s currently on. He was certainly helped earlier this year with not one, but two different games where he ran for more than 300 yards. Even in Hilldale’s lone loss this season to Claremore, Virgil still went for over 100 yards and still got into the end zone. However, Virgil and the Hornets face their toughest test of the season this week as they travel southeast to Poteau to take on their district foe and the perennial power in Class 4A. Poteau has had Hilldale’s number and they’ve had Virgil’s number. In each of the last two meetings, they kept Virgil under 50 yards. Virgil and the Hornets are determined to turn their luck around this week.

who led the way for the Hornets. Virgil has been one of the better running backs in Class 4A for over a year now and he backed up that claim in their week four victory. He was an absolute workhorse for the Hornets as he carried the ball 43 times and eclipsed 300 yards for the second time this season and finished with five touchdowns. The Hornets have a superstar at running back and they will go as he goes.Access all of Prep Redzone

. He would finish with just over 350 yards and six touchdowns on just 14 carries and his night was over by halftime. This was the second straight week Hilldale and specifically Virgil looked absolutely dominant as the Hornets look to be a true contender in 4A this fall.Access all of Prep Redzone
