Both teams were 6-1 coming into this matchup with very high powering offenses as both were averaging over 30 points per game. With the bad weather, the heavy wind and hard rain along with the freezing cold, it was a battle to the very end as both defenses were phenomenal with getting stops. Glenbard South got on the board first with a 90 yard TD run from the dominant Jalen Brown Jalen Brown 6'2" | 190 lbs | RB Glenbard South | 2023 State IL in the 2nd quarter. From then on out, it was a battle for both teams as Glenbard East got into the redzone twice but ended up coughing up the ball inside the five both times. Fast Forward to 1:15 left in the 4th, Glenbard East has the ball after they got Glenbard South to punt. The very next thing you know, QB Dillon Williams Dillon Williams 5'10" | 175 lbs | QB Glenbard East | 2023 IL finds Yassin Nabil Yassin Nabil 5'10" | 160 lbs | WR Glenbard East | 2023 State IL for a 62-yard TD catch giving them the lead 7-6 with less than a minute left in the game. Safe to say both TDs in this game were HUGE plays that changed the momentum in this game. Glenbard East was able to hold Glenbard South to pull off the last second victory moving to 7-1. Without further ado, let’s dive into the Glenbard South Standouts.

Mr. Williams is by far one of the top players in the state overall, not even just for the Class of 24′. The University of Notre Dame Commit really started to come to life later in this game as the air attack opened up with the weather simmering down. When it did, this young man was able to secure the catch off three-step slants with the defender draped all over his back. He also ran a fake punt to pick up the first down late in the third quarter showcasing his deadly foot quicks. This young man also was able to find the soft spot in zone coverage and sit to be an outlet for his quarterback. Also can’t forget his versatility to get involved in the run game running jet sweeps either. All in all, this young man is as good as they come and as we start heading into playoff action you’re going to need to double coverage this young man otherwise he’s going to make you pay. Twitter

D’manual Payton
Mr. Payton is a new name to me this fall season and one that was making plays all night long. The first is where he blew up a screen play closing quickly for a big loss on the play. Throughout the night he was able to come down in run support to secure open field tackles along the perimeter. Let’s not forget the interception he came away with in the fourth in the flat to change momentum back to his team. Overall, I’m very interested to see how this young man performs for the remainder of this season and in the playoffs.
The weather conditions for most of this game were not favorable for Mr. Champagne as he had to rely on his mobility and foot quicks before the air attack opened up later in the game. When the weather simmered down later in the game, this young man showcased his ability to rip level one throws while his receiver’s were in stride. What I’m excited to see is how well he’s able to perform during the rest of this season in the air attack as if the weather conditions aren’t horrible he has the ability to pick apart opposing defenses. With that being said, there’s a reason why he’s one of the top QBs in his class. Twitter
Mr. Brown is another dominant weapon that the Raiders have on their offensive attack. You have to pick your poison between stopping Mr. Williams, stopping Mr. Champagne or stopping this young man. Now, when the raiders go five wide this young man will line up in the slot and run jet sweeps to get him working horizontally before cutting upfield quickly to stay ahead of the sticks. What’s impressive about this young man is how he can find the hole quickly and play through contact by keeping his feet driving. When he does so, he break weak grab tackles in the process and in the second quarter this resulted in a 90-yard TD run giving the Raiders a 6-0 lead for most of the game. He also was able to break a 21-yard run late in the 4th as well by playing through contact. All in all, standing at 6’2 this young man is hard to tackle as he’s a hard downhill style runner. Twitter
Owen Gibson
Owen Gibson
Mr. Gibson is a new name to me this fall and one that was making plays all over for the Raider’s defense. One play in particular that stood out was how quickly he closed on a halfback swing route in the flat where he secured the tackle for loss right as the halfback was in the process of securing the catch. Fast forward to goal-line defense, and this young man was able to shoot the gap not once but twice. The result you might ask? He met the ball carrier at the line of scrimmage and stuck the ball carrier which resulted in a fumble each time. Both of those plays happened at the one-yard line. Overall, this is an inside linebacker that can fly to the ball and isn’t afraid to deliver the heavy hit either. Twitter
Mr. DiFranco did a good job all night plugging gaps in run support where he was able to come away with a few tackles for losses. This young man is one heck of a run stopper and there’s no doubt why he’s an Ohio Bobcat Commit. In terms of his pass rush, he flashes his speed rush off the edge which collapses the pocket generating pressure on the QB. All in all, this young man is one of the top D-Lineman that we have in the state and he’s been proving that each week this season. Twitter
