Players of the Week
Jaden Thomas, Windsor Wizards (RB)(Sr.)(22) – Thomas had an electric performance in the Wizards’ tight 27-21 win over the Fort Collins Lambkins and was easily the best player on the field. For the night, Thomas accounted for a remarkable 371 yards rushing and 4 rushing touchdowns on 25 carries (14.8 YPC), while also adding 18 yards receiving. When you put on the tape of Thomas’s performance, you can see he displays incredible vision when working between the tackles on inside runs and when bouncing the ball outside to find daylight. Great lower body strength, balance, and agility make him an extremely elusive runner in the open field, routinely making multiple defenders miss before the play is over. Deceptively strong ball carrier that can consistently run through arm-tackles from 2nd and 3rd level defenders. Shows good top end foot speed and acceleration that allows him to outrun slower 2nd and 3rd level defenders. While Thomas might not have a lot of attention on the recruiting trail right now, if he keeps having performances like the one against Fort Collins, he’ll be tough to ignore.
Austyn Modrzewski Austyn Modrzewski 6'5" | 205 lbs | QB Mountain Vista | 2025 State CO , Mountain Vista Golden Eagles (QB)(So.)(13) – Modrzewski easily had the most prolific night of any quarterback in Week 3 in the Golden Eagles’ 52-21 blowout of the Chaparral Wolverines. After the game was over, Modrzewski finished 19 of 25 (76%) for 351 yards passing and 4 passing touchdowns, with one interception being the lone blemish on his night. When you watch Modrzewski’s performance on film, the first thing that jumps out is his ball placement and overall accuracy, as his passes are consistently hitting his receivers in stride or in between defenders who are sitting in zone coverage. Poised passer that displays good pocket presence and is not easily rattled by the opposing pass rush. Highly intelligent QB that can quickly work through his progressions. Displays good arm strength that allows him to make most throws at every level of the field. Modrzewski is currently ranked the number 3 QB in the state for the class of 2025 and it’s easy to see why. He has the size (6’4 185lbs), the tape, and the production that you could want from a blue-chip QB prospect. He’ll definitely be a name worth following the next two plus seasons.
Micah Lumpkin, Sierra Stallions (WR)(Jr.)(15) – Despite the Stallions’ heartbreaking 26-20 loss to the Liberty Lancers, Lumpkin almost single-handedly pulled out the win for the Stallions with his dominant performance. Against the Lancers’ defense, Lumpkin accounted for an astounding 176 yards receiving and 2 receiving touchdowns on 9 receptions (19.6 YPR). When you watch the film of Lumpkins’ night, you can see he displays outstanding physicality when going up to high-point the ball, easily out-muscling and mossing smaller defenders. Big-bodied receiver that consistently wins with his size, strength, and length while making contested catches in traffic. Extremely physical runner after the catch that doesn’t shy away from contact and almost appears to seek it out. Shows strong and sure hands while making tough catches through contact over the middle. Adequate route runner when working deeper or intermediate concepts but mostly relies on his size/physicality to create separation. Extremely effective jump-ball receiver that consistently wins on fade routes in the end zone. Displays good top end foot speed to pull away from slower 2nd and 3rd level defenders. While I’m sure Lumpkin would much rather have the win than the numbers, if he continues to show-out like he did against the Lancers, there’s no doubt the Stallions will get their first win of the season soon.
