Continue ReadingThis marks the first time I have gotten a chance to cut on tape out of Sto-Rox senior quarterback Josh Jenkins Josh Jenkins 6’3″ | 180 lbs | QB Sto-Rox | 2023 State PA . I have always been high on the kid. The work Jenkins has put in this offseason has certainly translated on to the field. This is the best version of Jenkins I’ve seen thus far. His pocket presence in this one is plus, showing off subtle movements, or even staying in the pocket, not panicking if he doesn’t need to escpae the pocket. Jenkins saw the middle of the field well, hitting various seam routes between linebackers and safeties. His confidence seems to have grown as well. A step in the right direction for Jenkins.
Colin O’Sullivan Colin O’Sullivan 6’0″ | 180 lbs | QB Upper Dublin | 2023 State PA is looking as focused, confident and in control as he ever has at Upper Dublin. The offseason handed a ton of affirmation his way, whether it be through Elite 11 performances, elite 7v7 performances against top tier competition, or affirment from P5/G5 schools, O’Sullivan’s stock is through the roof. His late game heroics should add to the mountain of momentum this kid is building. Things are tough for 2023 quarterbacks in the recruiting world, as we know, yet I could legitimately see collegiate staffs having O’Sullivan as the best quarterback in his class. I could see things this way by the end of the year. Nights like this past Friday have me leaning in that direction.

Sam Stoner Sam Stoner 6’0″ | 185 lbs | QB William Penn (York) | 2023 State PA deserves love on the site whether or not he’s throwing for six touchdowns. This weekend, he happened to do that. The tape was an absaolute clinic put on by the lefty, who has honestly been great all year despite some tough losses early on. Stoner’s decisiveness with the football, the command and accuracy he delivered each ball with was teach tape at this level. Stoner completed 22 of his 33 attempts, targeting a myriad of weapons, not solely relying on stud Jahiem White Jahiem White 5’9″ | 190 lbs | RB William Penn (York) | 2023 State PA . There was a clear attention to detail in all things, what’s best, Stoner plays with this level of poise and confidence night in and night out. 71% from the field, 700+ yards and double digit scores in three games for the top five quarterback.
What a line from a kid we are way too low on. I still remember my first night out as a scout, Montez Ellis Montez Ellis 5’8″ | RB Upper Darby | 2023 State PA had just scratched the surface at UD, yet still broke off a huge 80+ yard run. Now, way later in his development, Ellis is going off for stat lines like this.
284 yards on the ground on 19 carries, 4 touchdowns.
Montez Ellis Montez Ellis 5’8″ | RB Upper Darby | 2023 State PA is a stock riser if I’ve ever seen one. Happy to see him work the way he has recently. I couldn’t find tape of the game to provide a proper breakdown.
Tape from Zac Hahn Zac Hahn 6’0″ | 190 lbs | QB Manheim Central | 2024 State PA ‘s awesome performance against Cocalico has yet to be released. Still, I had a chance to see the first junior on this list up close and personal this summer, upping his rank as tad compared to last Fall. With performances like this past weekend, we may have to rethink his rank amongst junior quarterbacks another time. Hahn threw four touchdowns in a win over Cocalico, that saw him eclipse the 280-yard mark. Happy to see offseason work translate to the field. Hoping he keeps it up.

Amped up to not only see Na’Rome Rayborn Na’Rome Rayborn 6’1″ | 190 lbs | QB Episcopal Academy | 2024 State PA playing well, but also to readjust his rank back to where it was this time last year. Performances like this will help. QB/ATH, Rayborn threw ten passes in a win over Cardinal O’Hara, each of which were completed. A perfect night led to five total touchdowns for the Episcopal Academy junior. Four were through the air, some on some nice throws in the red zone that showed off his patience as a passer, some downfield, showing he can actually test a defense vertically. Rayborn is a natural athlete with the ball in his hands, this won’t be his last elite performance of the Fall.

Wayne Love Wayne Love 6’3″ | 190 lbs | WR Deer Lakes | 2024 State PA and Derek Burk Derek Burk 6’0″ | 190 lbs | QB Deer Lakes | 2024 State PA were on fire against Apollo-Ridge, making quick work of the secondary. Love recorded four recpetions in this one, three of them went for touchdowns. The first was a screen that Love took 50+ yards to the house, the big-bodied receiver flashing his abilities to run and dodge after the catch. The next, Love flexed his stride, burning the DB on a go route. The last Love touchdown was an easy inside-out release that had his defender on the turf, leaving him wide open for another 70-yard score. 186 receiving yards on the night for this stock riser.
It seems like every week I am featuring a Hempfield Area kid. First it was Phillips, then Caesar, now Ian Tuffs Ian Tuffs 6’3″ | 185 lbs | WR Hempfield Area | 2023 State PA . Tuffs the DB had quite the night, recording an interception and recovering a fumble for the team. That production couldn’t compare to Tuffs the wide receiver. Seven catches, 135 yards and a score. Tuffs could have easily gone in for an additional two touchdowns, with one catch being downed at the one and another go-route leading him out of bounds. Greater Latrobe had no answer for the Phillips-Tuffs connection.
Keith Oates Keith Oates 6’0″ | 190 lbs | ATH East Pennsboro | 2024 State PA , tweet described his Hudl as a great team win. That it was, yet I can’t help but think the win came heavily on Oates’ shoulders. What a fun tape to unravel, considering we are up in the air as to where Oates might fit best at the college level. Oates the defender might be the way to go, proving this with a 15-tackle night that also saw him sack and intercept the quarterback. We love Oates as a high-level DII prospect, nights like this should prove that case true. Oates ceiling is whatever he wants it to be, the young man is an elite football player, regardless of position or size.
