The game went back and forth all night long going down to the wire with an onside kick that was the deciding factor in the game. St. Ignatius ended up recovering the onside kick and took a knee to close out the game as they held on to beat St. Laurence 19 to 14. Now, let’s dive into the St. Laurence Standouts.

Game Highlights/Recap
Mr. Ball is a hard runner that fights through contact and has foot quicks through the hole. There were a few chances where this young man almost broke a long run against the Wolf Pack’s defense after bursting through the line of scrimmage. For the rest of this season, keep an eye on his trait there as his ability to outrun 2nd level defenders once in open space is what gives him the edge. I’m also interested to see how he fairs in the air attack over the rest of this season. Twitter
Highlights
Mr. Cleary is the anchor for the Viking’s defensive unit. Throughout the night he was filling holes in run support and has the ability to meet the ball carrier in the hole for no/min gain on the play. His effort all night was on display as no matter where the play was going he’s able to disengage blocks and flow to the ball to make a play. Twitter
Mr. Taubr is a return man that had a few solid returns on the night. He was able to do so by utilizing his foot quicks as well as flashing his shiftiness weaving in/out of defenders in open space. His skill set here translates well to both sides of the ball which is why he’s listed as an ATH. Time will tell which side of the ball he falls into. Twitter
Highlights
Mr. Hyland showcased flashes of his ability to use his release to close space on the defender playing in off coverage before breaking them off at the top of the route creating separation on the play. Earlier in the game, he almost came down with multiple 50/50 balls on deep shots downfield. In the clip below, he was able to secure the catch across the middle of the field while he takes a heavy hit which was impressive to say the least. He can also secure receiver screens and get vertical upon doing so to gain extra yards on the play. Twitter
Danny Fitzpatrick
Danny Fitzpatrick
Mr. Fitzpatrick is a new name to me this fall season and one that flashed his abilities Friday night. He can add a touch on level three throws on deep shots downfield giving his receiver a chance to get the 50/50 ball. He also runs RPOs and does a good job of getting the ball out quickly when doing so. Twitter
Mr. Mays took snaps throughout this game at linebacker. When he was in the game he flowed to the ball to secure tackles on the perimeter and filled holes in run support. He’s a young up-and-coming player with a ton of upside. Keep a close eye on how he performs for the rest of this fall season. Twitter
Jack Favley
Jack Favley
Mr. Favley is another new name to me this fall season that made a few key plays on defense throughout the night. One of them being a QB pressure on a rollout which forced an errand throw making the Wolf Pack punt. This young man was also shooting gaps in run support all night long in the B and C gaps to clog up running lanes. Twitter
Honorable Mention
Nolan Ryan
