Continue ReadingThe ranked Friars did their part in keeping this game close. Despite the tough loss on the road, a game that was within reach up until the final minutes, Bonner-Prendie can still come away happy with the play of Elijah Beaty Elijah Beaty 6’0″ | 170 lbs | DB Bonner-Prendie | 2023 State PA and Jawaad Hanton. Both are senior defenders who did all they could to halt both the passing and rushing attack of the Fords.
I can’t say enough of the job Jawaad Hanton and Jaelyn Allen did inside the interior of the defensive line. The Haverford School deploys three offensive linemen that all stand at 6’4 and above. Hanton and Allen are anything but towers inside, yet rep after rep, the duo made nothing easy for the Fords, despite being outweighed as well. Both Hanton and Allen showed off awesome use of leverage, great hand placement, and real lower body strength. Many reps resulted in both prospects at the very least holding their gaps, forcing Ford ball carriers to bounce runs outside.
I was hoping the Haverford offense would provide a little more of a punch through the air to see just how far along Elijah Beaty Elijah Beaty 6’0″ | 170 lbs | DB Bonner-Prendie | 2023 State PA has come since the offseason. Beaty wasn’t tested. Even when threatened with the pass, Beaty still managed to stay in phase easily with all matchups thrown his way. The young man is exceptionally seasoned in all things corner, so much so that he’s tough to beat if you’re a one-dimensional wideout. If you have speed, he can match it, if you like to get physical, he can match it. What I really like was his efforts to show up on the tackling sheet. The lack of targets his way didn’t have him falling asleep in the secondary, Beaty provided run support either blitzing off the edge, setting the edge if need be, or even an occasional open-field tackle. Hell, even his ability to shed off blocks against some of the giants Haverford has out there is impressive. If he continues on this path, he will have unlocked another wrinkle to his game. Another solid performance by the senior prospect.

Isaiah Session
Isaiah Session
Next up are some unranked prospects whose performances are deserving of a second look. Mylachi Williams Mylachi Williams 6’5″ | 220 lbs | DL Bonner-Prendie | 2024 State PA is a young man I saw over two years ago at a 7v7. I was intrigued by his size and athleticism. Fast forward to this weekend, he’s out there doing what he can as a pass rusher, filling out his pads while he’s at it. I’m excited to get him back on radar. I’ll have my eyes peeled for Williams moving forward.
Taimere Washington came up with a timely interception for the Friars this weekend. Showing he can track the ball downfield and make a play on the football. I have heard his name before but am hoping to dig up more film to properly evaluate him.
Isaiah Session’s performance would earn him a ranking if I could re-rank today. I think I’d say this despite his efforts on offense. I came away impressed with how he plugged holes from his linebacker spot, a position I didn’t know he could fill. Session is also a trustworthy back that worked for every yard he racked up this weekend, considering the quarterback situation didn’t necessarily scare Haverford.
Justin Shepherd
Justin Shepherd
Speaking of the quarterback situation, the Friars sent out a trio of talented, yet still developing quarterbacks throughout this game. Each quarterback had areas where they looked comfortable, and areas where they could improve. Justin Shepherd fits into that conversation, yet you can see the offense open up a bit when he entered the game late in this outing. Shepherd had a willingness to test the Haverford secondary and wasn’t afraid to do so. Shepherd wasn’t perfect but still managed to give his guys an opportunity. He’s got a solid group of wideouts at his disposal, if he can keep this mentality while focusing strictly on not turning the ball over, he could carve out a role in the offense.
Jalil Hall
Jalil Hall
Zac Coneys
Zac Coneys
Always exciting to find new names. We may have found one of the better unknown wideout prospects in the Catholic League. Jalil Hall, a 6’4, 180-pound sophomore pass-catcher had himself a day to remember, catching his second touchdown in as many games this past weekend. Hall benefitted from Shepherd’s confidence, snatching a ball downfield over a small defender, then displaying the wheels and acceleration to score after the catch. I saw a glimpse of what his running capabilities are, excited to see more.
No one benefitted more from 50/50 balls than another unranked prospect, this time a transfer from Malvern Prep. Zac Coneys proved, on more than one occasion, that he can be trusted to come down with balls in one-on-one situations. He’s another prospect that I’m unfamiliar with, so a deeper evaluation is tough.
These two combined with the seasoned AJ Saie, who exited early with an injury, could really demand attention from defenses in the PCL. It’s a matter of getting them the ball.
Thaibri Rogers
Thaibri Rogers
Thaibri Rogers sticks out like a sore thumb on the field. I mean that in the best of ways. The young man is someone I’ll have my eye on moving forward, he’s 6’5, close to 300-pounds. Anyone that size, starting in the PCL should warrant some looks. He might be a project, yet I like what I saw for the most part.
If you ask me, The Haverford School will only go as far as their massive offensive line takes them. The Fords deploy two of the best linemen, one center in Pante, one tackle who can also play defense or guard if need be, in Dugery.
Tough to not pound the rock behind these two D1 prospects. I have to give it to the Friars, they made things tough on Pante and Dugery. The duo had their fair share of wins though, leading to gaping holes that Matt Brosko Matt Brosko 5’9″ | 180 lbs | RB The Haverford School | 2024 State PA exploited well. In my opinion, you have a chance to win any game when you can station these two behemoths inside. What’s crazy is, they both can play better than they did this weekend, it should serve as a wake-up call for whoever is left on the Haverford schedule.
Gavin Wright
Gavin Wright
Gavin Wright is a new name to me. His play this past weekend warrants more looks as the season progresses. Gavin Wright didn’t necessarily wow with any one throw, but I was pleased with how he distributed the ball seemingly accordingly and on time. He showed off solid accuracy in the short to intermediate areas of the field. He’s got plenty to work on but definitely a capable prospect behind Pante.
Chase Knox
Chase Knox
Matt Brosko Matt Brosko 5’9″ | 180 lbs | RB The Haverford School | 2024 State PA and Chase Knox were, for the second straight year, the majority of the offense.
I’m a huge fan of Brosko’s game. Ultra tough competitor, I can tell without even meeting the young man, his style of play proves it. He’s got good enough wheels and hands to garner looks in the passing game. Yet his bread and butter is north and south running with a purpose.
Chase Knox provides some flare to the offense. The Haverford School deploys a ton of size on both sides of the ball, it’s good to sprinkle in some speed and athleticism to keep defenders on their toes. Chase Knox does that perfectly. He can be used in misdirection handoffs behind the LOS. He can act as a deep threat, he can work underneath. He’s the perfect yin to the offense’s yang.
James Falk James Falk 6’6″ | 235 lbs | TE The Haverford School | 2023 State PA , a massive tight end prospect that is committed to Rice Football, looked the part of a three-star tight end this past weekend. Falk impressed me most in his run-blocking efforts. Falk is 6’6 and can push back strong side defenders if he can get his feet moving. Falk made some catches but I know that I saw the tip of the iceberg as far as pass-catching goes. He’s a fun prospect that I will be watching far into his college career at Rice.
There isn’t a more egregious misrank in all of our lists than Louie Atkinson Louie Atkinson 6’2″ | 200 lbs | LB The Haverford School | 2023 State PA . His frame and build combined with his range of motion alone is enough for college coaches to turn their heads. This kid will be properly placed in time. His play at linebacker is closer to that of a top 250 prospect than anything else. Atkinson is a kid that coaches will fall in love with at camps. Plug on the Bonner tape and you may like what you see there as well.
Yasir Denmark
Yasir Denmark
Yasir Denmark is a new name for us. Denmark came up with the huge interception that sealed this one late. The play enough will have Denmark on our Watchlist. I want to see more before we rank, I have his name now.
