At this time next week, it’ll be game week! We’re less than two weeks away from the 2022 season kicking off. Week zero will get us started next week and we’ll wrap up in December with state championships in Edmond. Over the last two months, we’ve been putting up in-depth preview content every single day. From team previews, to preseason rankings and all state teams to class by class previews. In this post, we release the Ultimate Schedule. This takes a look at some of the absolute best games each and every week. As of right now, we have a marquee match-up each week and several other games to look out for. Of course, this will be different throughout the year and more teams and match-ups will emerge. But check out the Ultimate Schedule here and check back every Monday throughout the season, when we release the top ten games for each week.
Week Zero – Bixby VS Owasso (@ TU’s Chapman Stadium) – August 25th
What a way to kick off the season. Bixby and Owasso will square off on a Thursday night at TU’s Chapman Stadium in a showdown that has been named the “Battle Of The Burbs”. The Spartans bring in their 49-game winning streak and this will be their first game in 6A-1 while Owasso is trying to climb the mountain once again. This is a semifinal or even championship-quality match-up and we’re getting it in week zero. The added fact that the game will be on Thursday night and they’ll get more attention is a big plus.

Week One – Cashion AT Pawhuska – September 2nd
In week one, we get a renewal of a playoff rivalry that has been outstanding over the last two seasons. Pawhuska will host Cashion and the only reason this isn’t a massive game is because Pawhuska has moved up to Class 2A. This will be the only time these two teams face off this fall. Cashion got the best of Pawhuska in back to back semifinal appearances and both games were incredibly entertaining. The Huskies will definitely have a little revenge on their mind and we can only hope that this match-up lives up to the last two meetings.

Coweta AT Wagoner
Del City AT Booker T Washington
Owasso AT Jenks
Week Two – Jenks AT Union – September 9th
The storylines for Jenks-Union always write themselves and this is always a game to circle on the calendar before every season. But this year, the hype around the annual rivalry game might be at an all time high. Not only is this a rematch of last year’s state championship game. Not only is this one of the best rivalry games in the country. But the energy around this rivalry clash reached another level this offseason when 2025 quarterback Shaker Reisig Shaker Reisig 6'0" | 185 lbs | QB Union | 2025 State OK moved over to Union and joined the Redhawk football program a day after practicing with defending champion Jenks in May. We don’t really have to say anything else to hype up this match-up at this point.

Week Three – Wagoner AT Grove – September 16th
This is no longer a district game with Grove getting bumped up to Class 5A, but it should be one of the more anticipated rematches of week three this season. It’s a rematch of last year’s most bizarre ending in a football game I’ve ever seen. Grove intentionally lost 22-20 to Wagoner by taking a safety on the final play of the game. With losing only by two points, the Ridgerunners almost all but guaranteed that they would capture the district championship. It goes without saying but after that ending, both teams will be looking forward to this rematch and both teams will be playing hard for all 48 minutes.

Berryhill AT Cushing

Pawhuska AT Woodland
Verdigris AT Beggs
Week Four – Union AT Owasso – September 23rd
Owasso and Union are the top two teams in the district as we head into the season so when Owasso welcomes in the Redhawks in week four to open up district play, it’s not crazy to think that the district championship could be on the line. Union knocked off the Rams a year ago and would end up winning the district title. These two teams have faced off in week four several years in a row now. It’s a unique match-up considering it’s only week four, there are six more district games left but this one could decide the district crown.

Week Five – Stillwater AT Booker T Washington – September 30th
In week five, we get a top three showdown as #2 Booker T Washington will host #3 Stillwater. It will be interesting to see if either team is still in that ranking spot in week five or if they’ve moved up. The Hornets will host the Pioneers and the district championship could be decided as the season reaches the halfway mark and September comes to a close. The Hornets will definitely have this game circled after they went to Stillwater in the first round a season ago and came up short. This will be a tough district so a loss could cost that team down the stretch.

Owasso AT Mustang
Verdigris AT Holland Hall

Week Six – Wagoner AT Cushing – October 7th
If the rankings are the same in week six, it will feature #1 Cushing and #2 Wagoner as these two teams are two of the favorites coming into the season. It will feature Cushing’s high-powered offense going against Wagoner and their stingy defense and rushing attack. The winner here will not only be the favorite for the district crown, but there’s a good chance they’ll be the favorite for the 4A state championship. Cushing is new to this district that Wagoner has dominated for the last decade and the Tigers are looking to make a big splash.

Week Seven – Carl Albert AT Bishop McGuinness – October 14th
We don’t need to say much about this rivalry as it’s been one of the best in 5A football over the last six seasons. For those unfamiliar, Carl Albert rattled off five straight championships from 2016-2020 and four of those titles were at the expense of district foe Bishop McGuinness. Now as we head into the 2022 season, these two teams find themselves once again at the top of 5A with Carl Albert #1 and McGuinness #2. We’ll see if they’re still 1 and 2 in week seven but this is arguably the biggest game in 5A this fall. Not only is this a potential district title game, but it could be a state title game preview.

Week Eight – Plainview AT Heritage Hall – October 21st
Another marquee district match-up featuring top five teams in the preseason rankings has 3A’s Heritage Hall hosting Plainview. Heritage Hall has been flat out dominant in district play but Plainview will be a new district foe for them to face. These two teams are the top two within their district as they head into the season and this week eight showdown could end up deciding the district championship. We’ll have a good idea of the playoff picture by week eight but this is a big match-up in Class 3A this fall.

Grove AT Collinsville
Guthrie AT Carl Albert
Millwood AT Oklahoma Christian School
Wynnewood AT Ringling
Week Nine – Hominy AT Woodland – October 28th
Similar to the other notable district match-ups, we wouldn’t be surprised at all if the district championship is decided when Woodland hosts Hominy. This match-up also features two of the best dual-threat quarterbacks in Class A. We could end up seeing a shootout in this one as both teams have the ability to light up the scoreboards. Both teams are the top two ranked teams within this district heading into the season. They are in a brutal district and the competition for the district title will be intense every single week.

Week Ten – Jenks AT Bixby – November 3rd
We know that the scheduling of district match-ups and where they fall on the calendar is completely random but man does this one feel just right. The Spartans will welcome in the Trojans in a battle between defending state champions. Both expect to be the top team in the district and this week ten clash could end up deciding that district champion. A big question will be whether or not Bixby’s winning streak is still in tact. These two are very familiar with one another after playing non-district play for years. Now the stakes get raised quite a bit. And the game has been moved to Thursday night to shine a brighter spotlight on the week ten match-up. ESPN’s network will be carrying the game in early November and the rumors are that it will be on ESPN2.
