Although many people may not believe that a wide receiver or tight end position is not that significant on the offense, it is indeed significant as the quarterback mainly passes the ball to its receivers to gain longer yardage. Having a talented receiver and tight end not only increases the likelihood of increased yards per reception but also creates a better balance of talent between the other players of the offense including the QB and running back. Today, I will be listing 5 receivers and tight ends I would send collegiate offers based on their most recent performances.
Damin Green WR | 5-10,180lbs. Class of 2023 | Bryan Station High School, KY | Tape:
Damin displays a lot of talent that you normally would not find in a typical wide receiver. Along with his sticky hands and ability to catch any ball wherever it is placed, what is noticeable about Damin is his insane ability to run with the football. Although not a natural running back, Damin is shifty like a running back and can take many hits until he is taken down. The offense even seems to trust him running wildcat, since he has shown to gain extra yardage whenever he is running with the football. The flexibility this young man has playing wide receiver is remarkable and extremely reliable for any college team to get their hands on. Even though Damin already has existing D1 offers on the table, I expect many more to fly in by the end of his upcoming senior season.
Darius Akal Darius Akal 6'0" | 155 lbs | ATH Harlan | 2025 State KY WR | 5-11,155lbs. Class of 2025 | Harlan High School, KY | Tape:
Darius is a promising young talent who can break away from multiple DBs with not much difficulty. Once Akal breaks onto the open field, he accelerates with his explosive speed and nobody is going to catch up to him. Like Damin above, Darius can also take reps running the ball since he can juke past defenders when carrying the ball. What I like about Darius is his ability to utilize his skills at playing football off the ball. The 2025 grad can produce great blocks to create open space for the ball carrier whenever he is not running a play. Darius is a solid facilitator whenever he is on the field and would be lucky for any college team to have him in their arsenal. Since he has only played one year of high school ball so far, the possibilities for improvement to his already productive game style are high. There is no doubt in my mind he will continue to receive more offers from schools as he further develops his game.
Adam Hobbs TE | 6-3,235lbs. Class of 2023 | Central Hardin High School, KY | Tape:
What is amazing about Adam is that he is an all-around athletic football player. No matter if he plays defensive end, tight end, or even on the special teams unit, he will get the job done every snap he is put onto the football field. For the sake of this article, I would like to point out the astonishing traits Hobbs has when playing tight end. Because of his experience playing DE, his footwork to block opposing Dlinemen is textbook-worthy, and combine that with his brute strength, nobody is going to get past this kid. When receiving the football, Hobbs can run routes as good as any wide receiver, except he can also bulldoze every single DB trying to tackle him. A man who can truly be an effective football player no matter where you place him truly deserves a place on any college football team. Adam is a D1 talent college recruiters should keep their eye out for. The future is bright for the 2023 grad.
Chase Simpson WR | 6-0,170lbs. Class of 2024 | Grant County High School, KY | Tape:
Chase is another wide receiver who can handle running the football exceptionally well. There are plenty of instances where Chase is seen to take a few carries and gain 10-20 yards per rush. Once he receives the football he uses his shifty footwork and speed to get past incoming defenders. His flexibility being able to take carries and receive the ball is incredible, to say the least. Chase’s playstyle is similar to Deebo Samuel who was known to be one of the top-performing wide receivers this past NFL season. This new style of play for wide receivers taking numerous carries has seemed to be a trend as of late. If I were a college coach looking to form a team with a lot of flexibility with different plays, Chase would be a good addition to their squad. Chase can be that “Deebo-like” receiver for any college team which can bring tremendously valuable depth to the offense. The young man also has time to further develop his game as he has two years left of high school ball. If I were a college recruiter, I would try to get him to commit as soon as possible since the competition will be high for Chase.
Carson Patrick Carson Patrick 6'4" | 195 lbs | WR Russell | 2023 State KY WR | 6-4,185lbs. Class of 2023 | Russell High School, KY | Tape:
Carson possesses a tall physique that enables him to catch passes that normally go over a receiver if overthrown. This is a major advantage for quarterbacks as they have a larger target to aim for when throwing the football. Besides that, Carson has solid footwork when route-running, and has explosive acceleration to run away from the opposing defenders once the ball is caught. The 2023 grad is a reliable receiver who can give you big yardage every time the ball is thrown to him. He also has fantastic hands to be able to catch any difficult pass no matter where it has been placed. Carson brings a lot to the table for any offense and I expect more college coaches to be eager to get him on their squad after Carson has finished playing his final high school season this fall.
