The biggest passing tournament in Southern California each summer is the Battle at the Beach tournament at Edison High.
Last season, Santa Margarita won the tournament and the past two seasons it conflicted with the Elite 11, so some of the top quarterbacks could not participate.
This season, the field is stacked as usual and all the top quarterbacks are expected to be in attendance.
Here is a preview of the first half of teams at the tournament:
Chaparral
Chaparral has a promising sophomore quarterback [player_tooltip player_id="270900" first="Dash" last="Beierly"] who threw 9 touchdowns and four interceptions as a freshman last season. He will compete with and likely backup [player_tooltip player_id="25455" first="Caron" last="Tyler"] who has an offer from Graceland University. [player_tooltip player_id="25457" first="Raymond" last="Valencia"] is a lengthy two-way player for the Pumas and Jake Whitehead could be a big receiver target this season.
