Continue ReadingWe are glad to welcome in new additions to our 2024 Prep Redzone Pennsylvania Rankings this weekend. Our “New Additions” piece will highlight some of the new names that have been introduced to the rankings. Over 200+ new names have been discovered throughout my travels, that including camps and showcases, team practices, 7v7 tournaments as well as word of mouth from coaches around the state. Below are just some of the new ATHs on our recent update. We hope to see each climb our rankings in the future.
Jamari Curlett Jamari Curlett ATH Cathedral Prep | 2024 State PA | Cathedral Prep
We expect big things out of the Cathedral Prep junior who had a modest debut on our rankings. Curlett stands as one of the lower ranked prospects in this latest update strictly because of the lack of a quantity of reps shown on tape. Each rep had plenty of quality, as we could see a future where Curlett could have a major impact on football games this Fall. He can contribute at defensive back, where he’s shown the ability to read passing concepts as they unfold or help in run support from his free safety spot. I am also intrigued by his skillset on both sides of special teams, either as a gunner or as a return man.
Xavier Diaz Xavier Diaz 5'9" | 145 lbs | ATH Mount Carmel | 2024 State PA | 5’9, 145 | Mount Carmel
The second-highest ranking debut for a designated ATH. Xavier Diaz Xavier Diaz 5'9" | 145 lbs | ATH Mount Carmel | 2024 State PA , who just missed making the Top-150, has your prototypical skillset to dominate games from almost any alignment. Diaz displays real acceleration in the open field, effortlessly hitting another gear without breaking a sweat. Diaz is heavily involved in pre-snap motion sets that utilize his open field vision, along with previously stated acceleration. The young man is hard to stop in-space and running off-tackle. Diaz has reps on tape at wideout, where he can bring the same speed and acceleration combo to get behind a defense. Diaz also has some reps at corner and at kick/punt returner as well. Expecting huge production out of him this Fall.

John Finnegan John Finnegan ATH Hughesville | 2024 PA | Hughesville
Here’s another small school prospect who debuted low on our rankings but could have all the makings of a potential breakout player in the state as his career progresses and develops. Finnegan has some misdirection, pre-snap sets that try to get him outside the tackles and into space. Finnegan has some speed to his game, showing he can break angles from secondary pursuers. Finnegan looks to be involved in the passing game, the first in this group so far. He usually works in the slot, working out-breaking routes and having soft enough hands to be a safety valve for his quarterback. Finnegan also has quality defensive reps on film.
Nate Fisher Nate Fisher 5'10" | 205 lbs | ATH Montoursville Area | 2024 State PA | 5’10, 200 | Montoursville
Here’s a player I’m excited about. Nate Fisher Nate Fisher 5'10" | 205 lbs | ATH Montoursville Area | 2024 State PA ’s name would be a known throughout the state if he we 6’2, 235. Yes, he doesn’t have that prototypical edge-rushing build, that might be the only thing he doesn’t have. Fisher’s ATH designation comes as a projection, as I could see Fisher bring the same intensity and production to multiple alignments on a defense. I think he can play weak/strong side edge-rusher, thanks to his solid hand usage as well as his incredible ability to pursue the football. Fisher has an occasional rep with his hand off the dirt, I could see him align at OLB and still pressure the quarterback or set an edge in run support. I also think the young man has the motor and lower body strength to be kicked inside and work against smaller guards and centers. Fisher is a quality player who can contribute anywhere along a front seven at this level.
Colm McGroarty Colm McGroarty 5'9" | 160 lbs | ATH Mahanoy Area | 2024 State PA | 5’9, 160 | Mahanoy Area
Colm McGroarty Colm McGroarty 5'9" | 160 lbs | ATH Mahanoy Area | 2024 State PA acts as Mahanoy’s quarterback. Yes, he doesn’t have the size you’d expect or want out of your starting quarterback, but it’s easy to understand the notion when you see the entire skillset McGroarty brings to the table. The Mahanoy offense usually deploys many players in the backfield, relying on post-snap misdirection, as well as trusting McGroarty to make the correct reads in option sets. That he does pretty often. McGroarty can beat a defense with his legs, showing off great vision and the ability to read his blocks in the open field. This same skillset shows itself when he’s returning punts for the team, taking multiple kicks back for scores. The young man can also contribute at free safety, having a natural understanding of passing concepts thanks to reps at QB. He can also challenge a defense with his deep ball, he isn’t just an ATH behind center, if you don’t respect his ability to throw, they could hit you over the top. Intriguing player.
Tristen Pinnock Tristen Pinnock 5'10" | 165 lbs | ATH Northampton | 2024 State PA | 5’10,165 | Northampton
Tristen Pinnock Tristen Pinnock 5'10" | 165 lbs | ATH Northampton | 2024 State PA might be the first legitimate wide receiver on this list. Based on his tape, I have no problem deploying this kid as the go-to weapon on offense. Pinnock shows great awareness of timing when running his routes, he always seems to be in the right place at the right time. Really solid hands are displayed, going up for tough catches and not letting the ball move despite contact. At wideout, Pinnock proves he can be a vertical threat, either outside the numbers or up the seams, where he scores from often. Pinnock can also eat at the LOS, whether aligned tight or wide. Pinnock is a player whose skillset makes you ask yourself, “How can we get the ball in his hands as much as possible?”. Northampton does a great job of this, either aligning him at running back where he can catch easy screens or swing passes that can go for easy first downs. There is also the pre-snap jet-motion wrinkle that can be added to his arsenal. Give him the ball and let him work. Not to mention his awareness at defensive back as well, his reps at wideout provide an understanding of passing concepts when aligned at corner. I can see the young man looking natural at corner instead of thinking rep after rep. He excels in run-support here as well.
Jendel Sanchez Jendel Sanchez 6'3" | 170 lbs | ATH Parkland | 2024 State PA | 6’3, 170 | Parkland
Jendel Sanchez Jendel Sanchez 6'3" | 170 lbs | ATH Parkland | 2024 State PA out of Parkland HS might end up ranked higher than anyone on this list this time next year. The best pair of hands in this group thus far. Jendel provides quality reps at defensive back, where he shows he can turn and run and challenge speed downfield. He can locate the ball at corner as well. Where this young man stands out is at wideout. He displays a smooth stride that isn’t easily broken. Plenty of 50/50 balls on tape that ended up in his favor, thanks to his awesome height/weight combination, as well as his outstanding ability to locate the ball while holding off potential defenders. If designated solely as a wideout, Jendel would have still placed high on our list. Adding to this fact that he can play outside lane corner just boosts his stock even further. College coaches love a long-limbed defensive back. I hope his recruitment heats up this time next year.

Damian Tyminski Damian Tyminski 6'2" | 200 lbs | ATH Pen Argyl | 2024 State PA | 6’2, 200 | Pen Argyl
The best all-around prospect on this list in my opinion. 43 receptions for just under 800 yards and eight scores as an underclassman. Add almost 80 tackles on defense, 2 interceptions and 2 forced fumbles, and you have one of the more productive sophomores in the state. Add his early 6’2, 200-pound frame and we are already seeing the makings of a potential FCS-floor player. Hands are top-notch, so are his tracking ability at both wideout and safety. I love the physicality he plays with on both sides of the ball too. Tyminski can both deflect physical play from defenders, not letting pesky corners or safeties throw him off course of the ball. He can flip the script and impose his physicality when at safety and deter targets from making easy catches. Love his pursuit to the ball carrier from his safety spot as well. Excellent downhill mentality, screaming down and stuffing runs before they gain yards thanks to his great ability to diagnose the run and pass. Really underrated ball skills too, you can see Tyminski come down with some spectacular grabs draped in coverage.
