Continue ReadingAfter each new rankings update, we receive a slew of new prospects reaching out to ask how they can be ranked, and most of them have a legitimate argument to make the next rankings update. When we hear of these new players, we immediately watch the film, reach out to others who potentially know more about the players and then begin the process of slotting them in for the next rankings update. Because we’ve added them to the system, these players should all have profiles, however, they won’t have a ranking until the next update. Here, I’ll talk about five rising sophomores that have impressed me in the 10 days since our update and look at where they might fall in our next rankings update.
Daniel Ray Daniel Ray 6'5" | 215 lbs | ATH Lake View | 2025 State SC , 6’5 180, Ath.- South Columbus
Ray is an intriguing young prospect to me, mainly based on his physical traits. He’s a tweener on both offense and defense, which is nothing to be ashamed of; it simply means that his future position may be influenced by his body’s development. Like many rising sophomores, he doesn’t have a ton of film, but he played really well on junior varsity a season ago and made the move up to varsity level at the end of the year. He flashes great awareness and solid ball skills. He’s a developmental prospect, but a guy with huge potential.
Ian Coleman, 6’2 215, Edge- Butler
Turn on the tape and you’ll be surprised to find out you’re watching a freshman. Coleman’s approach to the game is incredibly mature and he seems to understand what opposing offenses are doing. He’s versatile, but his highest upside is as a true pass rusher off the edge, where he flashes a sophisticated array of moves. Boston College has already jumped in with an offer and I expect more to come this offseason.
Malik Fuller Malik Fuller 5'11" | 205 lbs | RB North Lenoir | 2025 NC , 5’10 205, RB- North Lenoir
Fuller has all the physical traits needed to be a bruising running back plus some good speed to boot. His vision is exceptional for his age and he gets up to speed in a hurry, showing good burst through the line. We simply missed him when compiling our initial 2025 rankings, but don’t worry, he’ll have a place in the rankings update. We’re excited to see how he develops and how he performs in summer camps.
Latrell Carter Latrell Carter 5'8" | 170 lbs | ATH Pine Forest | 2025 State NC , 5’8 170, Ath.- Pine Forest
Carter is the definition of an athlete, playing a host of different positions for Pine Forest, including running back, receiver and kick returner. He scored on a kick return, reception and rush in a single game last year as a freshman on varsity and he’s lightning in a bottle. This offseason he’s really improved his numbers in the weight room and it’s going to make him more dynamic on the field. He’s got the speed and elusiveness, so if he adds a bit of weight, defenses are in even more trouble next year.
Kaden Hart Kaden Hart 5'11" | 210 lbs | RB Oak Grove | 2025 State NC , 5’11 210, RB- Oak Grove
When we’re compiling our initial rankings, it’s inevitable that we will miss a no-brainer prospect and in this case, it’s Hart. He already has an offer from App State and has interest from a number of Division 1 schools. Hart is a bruiser, a hard runner who would prefer to run through a defender than around him. He pops on film with his combination of size and speed and it’s easy to see why schools already want him. We promise we won’t overlook Hart anymore.
Jerel Bolder Jerel Bolder 6'0" | 180 lbs | WR Forest Hills | 2025 State NC , 6’2 190, WR- Forest Hills
Bolder came out of nowhere by earning ACC offers on back-to-back days to open the summer. After camping in the Raleigh-Durham area, he earned an offer first from Duke and then NC State. Bolder has very little varsity film but tracks the ball well and is speedy, especially for his age. He already has the size and has the physical traits to become a standout receiver.
