We’re back with another feature on the athletes you should know in South Jersey. Today, we will focus on the top quarterbacks in the Class of 2023- 2026.

<span style="font-size: 14pt;"><strong>23’, [player_tooltip player_id="183502" first="Riley" last="Gunnels"], Ocean City</strong></span>
<em>6’3 180</em>
Mr. Gunnels is a pro- style quarterback with great size. He has strong arm and good accuracy. Gunnels has smooth pocket presence and doesn’t get flustered easily. He is always calm, cool and collective in the pocket. Gunnels is a great decision and does a good job going through his progressions. He doesn’t force passes and make costly mistakes. Also, does a good job fitting balls into tight windows. His big frame is used wisely in the red zone as well. Gunnels is a perfect option down in the red zone and scored 11 TD’s on the ground last season for 150 yards. Through the air, he threw for 1,253 yards , 17 TD’s and 3 INT’s last season. Gunnels is one of the top returning quarterbacks this season and his stock will increase.
<span style="font-size: 14pt;"><strong>24’ ,Jacob Zamot, Millville</strong></span>
5’11 170
Mr. Zamot will have big shoes to fill this season and he is fully capable in doing so. Zamot saw action last season and he is familiar with the speed of the game. He has a good arm and speed. Zamot show good zip on his passes and has good fundamentals when outside of the pocket. He gets the ball out quickly and understands different coverages. Zamot can tuck it and run when coverage breaks down as well. He does a good job at not taking unnecessary hits. Zamot will lead his team to another playoff run and maybe even another shot at the state title.
<span style="font-size: 14pt;"><strong>25’, Dan Russo, Vineland</strong></span>
<em>6’0 190</em>
Mr. Russo had a solid freshman debut. He did well at adjusting to the varsity level. Russo is dual-threat with a good build and arm strength. He is similar to a Tim Tebow type because he is dangerous both on the ground and through the air. Russo shows good poise and mechanics. He gets the ball out quickly and can zip it from one hash to another. Last season, he ran for 500 yards and 7 TD’s. Also, threw for 739 yards with 6 TDs and 5 INT’s. Russo will build on this season and lead Vineland to a winning season this year.
<span style="font-size: 14pt;"><strong>23’ Kyon Barnes, Cumberland </strong></span>
<em>6’0 190</em>
Mr. Barnes is a solid athlete with tremendous upside. He is a good passer and runner. Barnes understand different coverages by the defense to make the best decision. He is a tough competitor and will never give up. Barnes displayed good accuracy and scored twice on the ground last season. He will have a productive season this year and prove he can play the collegiate level. Make sure you keep your eyes on this kid.
