Offensive Prospects: Toledo Camp 6/3/22

It was a beautiful Friday Night, and the turnout was huge for the Toledo Rockets football camp.  The players checked in and went to UT’s soccer field where they took part in warmups, the 40-yard dash, and the broad jump.  From there the offensive and defensive lines went to the indoor practice facility, the safeties and linebackers stayed at the soccer field.  The quarterbacks, running backs, defensive backs, wide receivers, and defensive backs headed to the Glass Bowl.  Today I talk about some of the offensive prospects that caught my eye on the evening. [caption id="attachment_359562" align="alignleft" width="300"]<a href="https://prephoops-uploads.s3.amazonaws.com/redzone/uploads/2022/06/WIN_20220603_20_48_17_Pro-scaled-crop-2049x1345-1654953844.jpg"><img class="wp-image-359562 size-medium" src="https://prephoops-uploads.s3.amazonaws.com/redzone/uploads/2022/06/WIN_20220603_20_48_17_Pro-scaled-crop-2049x1345-1654953844-300x197.jpg" alt="" width="300" height="197" /></a> Sircharles Gordon[/caption] <strong>2024 WR Sircharles Gordon (Akron Saint Vincent Saint Mary) 6’3 180-</strong> Sircharles has a name that stands out, but that’s far from all that stands out.  Gordon is tall wide receiver with great length.  He has solid speed and plus body control.  He showed off his speed with a 4.65 time in the 40 and his explosiveness with a 9’7 broad jump at Ohio State’s camp.  That explosiveness combined with his fluidity and size is a threat to opposing defenses.  As he continues to grow as a receiver and a route runner, he has a chance to be very good. Gordon has D1 mid-major potential. <strong>2023 OL Cole Rhett (Bishop Watterson) 6’6 315-</strong>  Rhett is a Toledo Rocket commit.  In his pass set he displays good feet and balance.  I’d like to see him continue to get stronger and develop a better punch.  With his combination of size and athleticism, it’s easy to see why Toledo liked him enough to offer.  If he can build on that strength and punch, he has the opportunity to develop into a very nice D1 college offensive lineman. <strong>2023 QB [player_tooltip player_id="92620" first="Kaden" last="Holmes"] (Fremont Ross) 5’11 170-</strong> In a day in age where many<img class="size-medium wp-image-206032 alignright" src="https://prephoops-uploads.s3.amazonaws.com/redzone/uploads/2021/09/KadenH.jpg" alt="" width="300" height="200" /> are infatuated with the 6’4 gunslingers some might gloss over Holmes.  That, however, would be a mistake.  Holmes is a lethal dual threat QB.  He’s one of the best athletes on the field at all times.  He’s not just a runner who can throw the ball, he has a ton of arm talent.  He has a fluid and quick release whether in the pocket or on the run.  He doesn’t lock onto receivers and has the ability to distribute the ball among his many talented wide receivers.  I have Holmes as a high D2 to a D1 FCS prospect. [caption id="attachment_157053" align="alignleft" width="300"]<img class="wp-image-157053 size-medium" src="https://prephoops-uploads.s3.amazonaws.com/redzone/uploads/2021/06/Tyler-Tusai.jpg" alt="" width="300" height="200" /> [player_tooltip player_id="152367" first="Tyler" last="Tusai"][/caption]<strong>2024 QB [player_tooltip player_id="152367" first="Tyler" last="Tusai"] (Padua Franciscian) 6’4 220-</strong> Tyler is a young man with a great frame and ton of arm talent.  It’s been fun watching him grow and fill out over the last couple of years and develop as a quarterback.  He’s a kid who can make all of the throws to any level of the field.  He’s a sneaky good athlete who can evade a rush.  He’s an effortless thrower who doesn’t require a ton of torque to let it fly deep.  He holds one D1 offer as of right now (Bowling Green), but I think this is the offseason where his recruitment really starts to get rolling for him. <strong>2023 WR [player_tooltip player_id="359612" first="Collin" last="Deitsch"] (Bellefontaine) 6’1 165-</strong> Deitsch came away with one of the better 40 times on the day, running a 4.58.  He’s explosive and shows a lot of fluidity in his vertical routes.  He does a great job of catching the ball away from the body.  I think in reality he’s more of a vertical threat, but he does show a capability of breaking routes off.  I see him as an FCS caliber player right now who could elevate to a low mid-major if he can continue on his ability to grow in his releases and ability to break off routes.  Collin should be looking at a very productive senior season with talented 2025 QB Tavien St. Claire throwing him the ball. &nbsp;
