Notes From The Road: The Buckeye State

Ohio is one of the top talent-producing states in the country, and this year is no exception. I stopped and interviewed kids from all over the buckeye state on my most recent travels. Here are my notes on some of the state’s top prospects from the class of 2024, 2025, &amp; 2026. <hr /> <em><strong>Fred Johnson, OT/DT, 6’5" 299, Glenville, 2024</strong></em> Johnson is quite impressive on both sides of the ball. This 2024 stand-out possesses all the tools; great length, long arms, and exceptional strength. He has an outstanding work ethic to go with it. No doubt a Power-Five prospect. 3.2 GPA. This is a superior athlete who has played quarterback, wide receiver, and tight end. Also stars in basketball. 3.8 GPA. Perrymond has already made a name for himself at both wide receiver and cornerback. On film, he shows quick hands, good footwork, and fantastic speed. Big things are coming from this young man. Twitter: <strong>@hen_perrymond</strong> &nbsp; <strong><em>Cross Nimmo, ATH, 6’5" 208, Lake Catholic, 2025</em></strong> Has a wide array of skills at tight end, wide receiver, and defensive end. Superior footwork, runs precise routes, and catches everything within his frame. Also stars in basketball. Twitter: <strong>@cross_nimmo9</strong> &nbsp; <em><strong>Brandon Caesar, DE, 6’3" 235, Cleveland Heights, 2025</strong></em> Quick off the edge, shows strong and violent hands, reads well, and is excellent in pursuit. Has the physical skills to dominate at the next level. Keep an eye on this kid. Twitter: <strong>@caesar2025</strong> &nbsp; <em><strong>Sean Patrick, RB, 5’10" 165, Kenston, 2024</strong></em> Shows outstanding footwork, is quick, has good hands, and is an all-around back who can run, catch and block. Very elusive with outstanding vision and balance. 3.6 GPA. Twitter: <strong>@seand1ff3rent</strong> &nbsp; <em><strong>[player_tooltip player_id="284583" first="Deontae" last="Armstrong"] OT/DT, 6’6" 265, Saint Edward, 2024</strong></em> Deontae is quick, aggressive, fast off the ball, and nasty. Dominates at the point of attack. Very impressed with him at right tackle. Long arms and very determined. 345 bench. 3.6 GPA. Twitter: <strong>@DeonArmstrong30</strong> &nbsp; <em><strong>[player_tooltip player_id="284552" first="Devontae" last="Armstrong"], OT/DT, 6’6" 275, Saint Edward, 2024</strong></em> The twin brother of [player_tooltip player_id= "284583" first= "Deontae" last= "Armstrong"], who, much like his brother, is a tackle on both sides of the ball. He shows exceptional footwork, body control, strength, and aggressiveness. Very determined and productive. Also plays basketball. 3.5 GPA. Twitter: <strong>@devontae_440</strong> &nbsp; <em><strong>D’shawntae Jones, RB, 5’10" 225, Glenville, 2024</strong></em> Rushed for 1,000 yards as a freshman. This is a powerhouse with good vision, strength, hands, and balance. Very impressive in person and on film. Also stars in basketball. 3.8 GPA. Is a student of the game who can be dominant at times. 3.6 GPA to go with terrific work habits. Twitter: <strong>@regovich_troy</strong> &nbsp; <em><strong>[player_tooltip player_id="364719" first="Marquise" last="Davis"] RB, 6’ 190, Glenville, 2025</strong></em> He can run a 4.4 forty-yard dash and shows excellent vision, balance, &amp; surprising power. Possesses all the tools for future stardom. Should be a power five recruit. 3.5 GPA. Twitter: <strong>@rlyquise</strong> &nbsp; <em><strong>Christopher "CJ" Newell, ATH, 5’8" 165, Glenville, 2026</strong></em> Just a freshman, but big things are expected of this dynamic two-way performer.
