We check out some of the DBs featured in our 2025 Rankings!
<span style="font-size: 14pt;"><strong>[player_tooltip player_id="216863" first="Anquon" last="Fegans"]-</strong> |6’0 165| |Thompson| <a href="https://twitter.com/FegansAnquon"><em>@FegansAnquon on Twitter</em></a></span>
[player_tooltip player_id="216863" first="Anquon" last="Fegans"] is an elite prospect and widely regarded as one of, if not, the best safeties in the entire 2025 class. It’s impressive enough to be a freshman starter on varsity, but to be a starting safety at one of the country’s most dominant programs in Thompson, should illustrate just how much talent Fegans possesses. Last fall, he recorded 50 total tackles, 2 interceptions, and 2 pass breakups against some of the state’s toughest teams in the 7A. Just like his brothers Trequon and Antwon, Anquon has been highly recruited already, having received offers from Georgia, LSU, and Texas A&M and other top-tier Power 5 programs. With his great speed, vision, coverage, and strong tackling abilities, it is going to be fun to watch [player_tooltip player_id="216863" first="Anquon" last="Fegans"] progress even more than he has already.
<span style="font-size: 14pt;"><strong>[player_tooltip player_id="178852" first="Tre" last="Darden"]-</strong> |6’0 170| |Hoover| <a href="https://twitter.com/TreDarden4"><em>@TreDarden4 on Twitter</em></a></span>
After spending his first season with Spain Park, [player_tooltip player_id="178852" first="Tre" last="Darden"] has transferred to Hoover- and with that, the Buccanneers are getting a very versatile athlete that could be one of the next great DBs the school produces. Last fall, Darden spent time at QB and DB, and although he has great talents on offense, he has some truly impressive skill in the secondary. Darden has a great ability when it comes to diagnosing plays, and because of that, he can play against the run and pass equally well. Darden’s speed, size, and tackling ability are massive advantages at his position, and he’s only going to get better over the next three years.
<span style="font-size: 14pt;"><strong>[player_tooltip player_id="350217" first="Eric" last="Winters"]-</strong> |6’2 205| |Enterprise| <a href="https://twitter.com/eric_winters5"><em>@eric_winters5 on Twitter</em></a></span>
[player_tooltip player_id="350217" first="Eric" last="Winters"] is a highly athletic prospect that played S last year, and this is not a guy you want to meet in the open field. Winters hits like a truck, and in turn, he consistently brings down the ball carrier and creates turnovers by forcing fumbles. Along with that, Winters shows a lot of promise in coverage as well, he has long arms that allow him to play the ball really well, and with him playing alongside S [player_tooltip player_id="237768" first="Keion" last="Dunlap"], Enterprise’s defense is heading into this season with some great talent in their secondary. Winters currently holds 3 offers from Troy, UAB, and UCF, it shouldn’t be surprising to see him add more to his list this summer/fall.
<span style="font-size: 14pt;"><strong>[player_tooltip player_id="242248" first="Taijh" last="Overton"]-</strong> |6’2 180| |Williamson| <a href="https://mobile.twitter.com/taijho"><em>@TaijhO on Twitter</em></a></span>
[player_tooltip player_id="242248" first="Taijh" last="Overton"] was a terrific addition to Williamson’s defense last fall, as an FS he presented a wide variety of skills in the secondary. Overton is a terrific tackler, and near unstoppable when it comes to run support- he has a great ability to consistently locate, pursue, and take down RBs wherever they could be on the field. Against the pass, Overton also uses the same field vision to cover and break up passes, his size is a huge advantage when it comes to this- when he’s in man coverage he consistently uses it to blanket smaller defenders. [player_tooltip player_id="242248" first="Taijh" last="Overton"] is a hybrid safety that has a ton of promise heading into the 2022 season and is definitely going to be a prospect we keep our eyes on.
