The OAA blue is looking to be competitive this season, and there isn’t a clear favorite to win the league crown. In this article, I’ll be headlining the biggest offensive mismatch for every OAA Blue team!
Troy – Darius Whiteside Darius Whiteside 6'1" | 151 lbs | DB Troy | 2023 State MI II – ATH
Whiteside II breaks the mold in a league with little top-tier college talent. The WR/DB is as physically gifted as they come, and coming from a football family, he’ll be a massive factor for Troy. In addition, I see Whiteside being able to do some damage against opposing secondaries, especially those in the Blue, as I don’t see much sensational DB talent. Lastly, if Troy earns another playoff bid, which is likely, Whiteside II will have to be at the top of his game for Troy to make a run. I’m excited about this young man’s season.
Seaholm – Kyle Robbins Kyle Robbins 6'2" | 190 lbs | ATH Seaholm | 2024 State MI – ATH
A versatile weapon, Kyle Robbins Kyle Robbins 6'2" | 190 lbs | ATH Seaholm | 2024 State MI could be Seaholm’s MVP next season. Last season he was the Maples’s best athlete on the offensive side of the ball, sporting great elusiveness and speed in an offense full of power. On the defensive side, he had a few fantastic games at DB, including a legendary performance against North Farmington. Robbins is a standout Baseball prospect, so I know that, at the very least, he’s been staying in shape. My expectation is a noticeable improvement in all aspects of his game.
Troy Athens – Khalil Drone – TE
Tight End is my favorite position in all of football, and Khalil Drone has the tools to succeed. A good blocker and route runner, Drone could be a headache for opposing defensive coordinators. I haven’t heard of him since research for this article, but I hope he’s had a productive offseason. If Athens has a dominant Tight End, then look out. Drone could open up the offense for Athens.
North Farmington – Ryan Shelby Ryan Shelby QB North Farmington | 2024 State MI – QB
Shelby showed a ton of promise for North Farmington last season, but he was overall wildly inconsistent. I’m betting on improvement, and if Shelby does clean his game up, the entire North Farmington team changes. Shelby is athletic and uses it to his advantage, and when he’s patient, calm, and decisive with his throws, he’s a great QB.
Farmington – Dominic Pesci – QB
A 6’6 QB, Dominic Pesci has all the tools needed to be the guy for Farmington. His film is full of the deep ball, and in general, he throws a good ball with decent mechanics. But the way Farmington’s offense is structured, Pesci has the tools to be the best QB in the Blue. Farmington doesn’t seem likely to win the Blue on paper, but if Pesci goes off, look out.
