In our last rankings update for the Class of 2024, the top four prospects in the rankings remained the same from our preseason rankings update of Missouri 2024 prospects: St. Louis University High wide receiver Ryan Wingo Ryan Wingo 6'2" | 200 lbs | WR St. Louis University High | 2024 State MO , followed by Liberty North linebacker Melvin Laster Melvin Laster 6'2" | 235 lbs | LB Liberty North | 2024 State MO , St. Pius X (KC) defensive lineman-wide receiver Jayshawn Ross Jayshawn Ross 6'4" | 230 lbs | ATH Liberty North | 2024 State MO and CBC wide receiver Jeremiah McClellan Jeremiah McClellan 6'0" | 185 lbs | WR CBC | 2024 State MO .
This time, we have the same No. 1 in Wingo, who has approximately 30 scholarship offers at this point, but the next four players have switched spots. McClellan and Nwaneri have jumped up to No. 2 and No. 3, respectively, while Laster and Ross have dropped slightly to the third and fourth spots.
Like we noted last time, the top five players are elite prospects who we could see receive scholarship offers from just about every major program in college football over the next 23 or 24 months before they are able to officially sign with schools. We would now extend that list to the top seven prospects in our 2024 rankings.
Here is a quick look at some of the biggest stock risers in the newly updated rankings:
WR Jeremiah McClellan Jeremiah McClellan 6'0" | 185 lbs | WR CBC | 2024 State MO , CBC
Ryan Wingo Ryan Wingo 6'2" | 200 lbs | WR St. Louis University High | 2024 State MO is the consensus No. 1 wide receiver and overall prospect in Missouri in this class among recruiting services and based on his class-high 30 scholarship offers, but McClellan is right there with him. He’s not quite as tall or fast, but he’s a difference-making talent who put up big numbers as a sophomore and was the top wide receiver on a veteran-laden state championship CBC squad.
A 6-foot-1, 185-pounder, McClellan caught 41 passes for 989 yards and nine touchdowns and averaged 24.1 yards per reception during his breakout sophomore season.
McClellan already has 21 scholarship offers, the second most in this class among Missouri prospects. Among some of his recent offers were Michigan, Oregon and Notre Dame and, like the other top prospects in this class, will have offers from every major program in the country eventually.
DL Williams Nwaneri Williams Nwaneri 6'5" | 250 lbs | DL Lee's Summit North | 2024 State MO , Lee’s Summit North
Nwaneri, a 6-5, 240-pound physical specimen of a defensive end, jumped from No. 52 in the preseason rankings all the way up to No. 5 overall in the previous 2024 rankings update and now moves up two more spots to No. 3 overall.
He is now up to 15 scholarship offers, at the time of writing this article, with the last few including offers from Michigan, Miami and Texas A&M, among others.
Nwaneri was credited with 43 tackles, 11 hurries and five sacks during his sophomore season for Lee’s Summit North, which went 11-2 and advanced to the Missouri Class 6 semifinals.
OL Andrew Sprague Andrew Sprague 6'8" | 260 lbs | OL Rockhurst | 2024 State MO , Rockhurst
The 6-8 Sprague is one of those players that when you see him in a game, you immediately check the roster to find out his name and more information about him. Then you see he’s only in the Class of 2024, and you know he’s a potential big-time prospect.
Sprague, who moved up from No. 9 overall to No. 7 and to the top spot among offensive linemen, was the first offensive lineman in Missouri in the 2024 class to receive a Power 5 scholarship offer and he’s continued to add to a growing list of opportunities. He’s now up to eight offers, with Michigan, Minnesota and Illinois among the latest.
Sprague needs to continue to get stronger and add size, but he’s got the frame to be a 300-plus pound lineman.
RB Ayden Harris Ayden Harris 5'10" | 200 lbs | RB Lutheran-St. Charles | 2024 MO , Lutheran-St. Charles
We have previously listed Harris as a linebacker due to his early success at that spot, but we have now moved him to running back because of his size (5-10, 200) and because he is being recruited as a running back. Oh, and his father played running back in the NFL and his older brother, Arlen Harris Jr Arlen Harris Jr 5'11" | 200 lbs | RB Lutheran-St. Charles | 2022 State MO ., is a standout running back who signed with Stanford.
Harris, who moves up from No. 17 to No. 12 overall in this rankings update, is now the No. 1 running back prospect in Missouri in the Class of 2024 and recently picked up his first scholarship offer from Ball State.
Harris carried 66 times for 643 yards and nine touchdowns and averaged 9.7 yards per carry as a sophomore but will get a chance to carry more of the workload this fall after the graduation of his older brother. Standout 2023 running back Allen Mitchell Allen Mitchell 5'11" | 175 lbs | RB Lutheran-St. Charles | 2023 State MO transferred from De Smet to Lutheran at semester break, so those two will likely split carries assuming Mitchell is eligible to play this fall.
DB Jacobi Oliphant Jacobi Oliphant 6'4" | 180 lbs | DB St. Louis University | 2024 State MO , St. Louis University High
One of the biggest movers in this rankings update is Oliphant, a 6-4, 180-pound cornerback who has impressed on the track circuit this spring as a hurdler and sprinter. He moves way up from No. 39 to No. 20 overall.
Oliphant transferred from Trinity to SLUH a year ago after Trinity closed and he finished with 74 tackles, one interception, one sack, one fumble recovery. He also had one reception for 27 yards.
Oliphant finished fifth in the 110-meter hurdles (15.02 seconds) and 13th in the 100-meter dash (11.23) at the Missouri Class 4 championship meet in 2021 as a freshman at Trinity. This spring he has run the 110 hurdles in 14.99, the 100 in 11.35 and the 200 in 22.57.
Did we mention he’s a 6-4 cornerback? Oliphant’s long and lean frame has the ability to carry a lot more good weight. We could see him playing corner or safety at the next level but he could also end up at wide receiver. He’s incredibly projectable and should add a ton of scholarship offers going forward. He received his first offer, from UConn, on Monday.
